A family friend messaged me the other day saying she was looking for a dog sitter for a couple of times over the next two days. Her dog had gotten injured, was wearing a cone, and they just wanted someone to keep an eye on her.
I said sure…you know me, always busy doing something, what’s one more thing??
Anyway…this is Zoey. She got into an accident while riding on a UTV. She jumped off and then ran a ways. When they got to her, her eye was bulging out.

At the vet, they decided they would try to keep her eye. To do that, they got her eyeball in place and sewed her eye closed. It will be that way for two weeks. Then the stitches come out, and fingers crossed, her eye will be okay. The vet gave her a 50/50 chance of keeping her eye. Poor girl. If her eye doesn’t take, her eye will have to be removed.
We’re hoping she’s healing and her eye is healing, and all will be well. In the meantime, they are trying to limit her activity and roughhousing. She has a sibling at her home and they thought it might be best if she come here so she could be watched and taken care of.
I was happy to help. I love the family, and as you know, I have a soft spot for dogs.
Rick loved her, and she loved Rick. They became fast friends.

Rosie was just fine with her, too. She quickly made us her family for the day. Here she was sleeping while Rick and I watched a movie.

Her owner said she was a little jittery around kids and to watch her. Thankfully, I only had Kalissa’s kids around when she was here. All of the boys are very good with dogs and accepting of ones they don’t know. She did great with them. I just tried to keep them from running as I could tell that seemed to aggravate Zoey.

She would make the perfect stitching dog. I even teased her mom that she should take up stitching. HA!!
It was a joy to have her with us when we were babysitting. That prompted me to wonder if I should try to foster again. I asked Rick how he felt about that, and he was on board. So, I’m thinking I might start fostering again…Not as much as I once did, but here and there if the dog seems like it would be a good fit. I’m going to start watching the foster page again to see if a pup or adult dog comes up.
I’m sad that Zoey had an accident, but happy that I figured out that I could give fostering a chance again.
I was so happy to do this…and would welcome Zoey back again in a heart beat.

Oh poor Zoey! I hope she is able to keep her eye, but if not, we know that our pets can adjust to difficulties such as this (Bonnie Hunter’s cat recently did). Such a smart idea to separate the animals for a while. Please be sure to tell us the results.
I’ve been fostering a pug for the past two months. If I was going to get a second dog, she would be perfect. But, my pug isn’t happy sharing her space. So this may be my one and only attempt at fostering.
