Cross Stitch Update: September 4, 2026

I cross-stitched a bit this week. All of my work was on just one piece, and it happened in one day.

If you remember, Rick and I have had a nasty flu for over a week. On Monday, Rick was at his worst. He said he didn’t think he could drive down to class. Attendance is pretty strict, so I said I would drive him and then sit in the lobby and stitch while he was in class.

I ended up taking this project to stitch on. It’s Stay True by With Thy Needle and Thread. Nell and I both started this when she was here for a mini retreat. This is where I was then.

I grabbed it because the piece is very do-dad heavy and I have to change thread often. Sitting in a lobby either needs that kind of stitching or fill in. Here is where I was after a couple of minutes stitching.

….and here is where I was now.

I know it doesn’t look like much, but I’ve almost got the page done. I just have the little girl and a portion of the fence on that page.

I know it’s not earth-shaking, but I’m happy with my progress. I have some things planned for the upcoming week, and I’m hoping to squeeze in a few stitches too. I’ll tell you more about that next week.

  1. You made quite a bit of progress in a small amount of time. That will be a beautiful piece once it is completed. So fun seeing your progress.

  2. Attendance may be strict, but did Rick talk to instructors about it? Whether the flu or a GI bug, many are contagious for a certain period of time, and his actions have put others at risk.

  3. Always love to see any kind of cross-stitch update. I needed one this week, as I have not had the motivation to do anything. And I can’t even claim I’ve had the flu slowing me down. Glad you two are on the mend! ~ Suzanne in Michigan

  4. Jo – I must have missed what kind of class Rick is taking. I agree with Sarah – sorta risky having a semi sick student in the classroom.

    1. Rick is going back to be an EMT and hopefully paramedic after that. He did the job years ago in Michigan. He has to get recertified for Iowa.
