Cross Stitch Update: September 25, 2026

I thought I would get in a lot of stitching this week, but I really didn’t. If you remember, my daughter Kelli was coming home for a “retreat” day. She brought the kiddos because she didn’t have a sitter…and the kids picked this day not to cooperate the best. They were busy, which meant we were busy…which meant little stitching happened.

I mostly worked on my Garden Series from Blackbird Designs. The last time you saw it, I had finished a block and was starting a new block.

I only had a few stitches of the border in place. I ended up making some progress on this…

I had a heck of a time…again.

I am so tempted to be discouraged…but I unfold it all out and see this…Then I’m encouraged to keep going.

I only have four more blocks once this is done. Stick with it, Jo…you can do it!! This time around, I had trouble with the top part of the flower. I stitched it twice. I ripped it out twice. UGH. Patience is the key, so I better find some. HA!!

I took a friend to an appointment in Iowa City. We were there overnight. I threw this in at the last minute.

This was a freebie from Sweet Wing Studio. Long ago I kitted it and threw it in the car. I ended up taking it out and stitching on it.

I am almost done. I have some snow and doodads to stitch, but I don’t think it will take too long. I’m happy to have something quick to stitch. I’m far enough along that I need to kit something else for the bag….just in case I need to grab something quick.

I’m happy with my progress. As stitchers, we always wish for more, but I’m content. Check in next week and see if I can get these two projects finished.

  1. I think you made lots of progress. I like the one you did while doing your good neighborly deed. You are the best – stitcher, quilter, and friend to many!!

  2. I know it is some sort of heresy to not like a Blackbird piece, but I’m not particularly fond of that piece that is giving you so much trouble right now. I guess it does provide balance in a way. But I do like the whole piece when you spread it out. It is charming. Here’s wishing for less frustration! Joy to you, Jo.

  3. Sometimes we get so focused on the spot that is giving us trouble that it’s easy to forget the progress that came before it. Happy for you that you were able to feel pleased with how far that beautiful piece has come. You’ll get it finished, Jo, and we can’t wait to see it when you do! ~ Suzanne in Michigan
