Cross Stitch wasn’t my best friend this week. First off, I didn’t stitch much as we had family here three of the days over Memorial Day. Second…I started out with a piece that hates me.
So what piece hates me?? Garden Club Series by Blackbird Designs. Here is where I was…

This block has gotten the best of me. Thread color issues and frogging have plagued me. It got to the point I didn’t want to pick it up anymore. This week I was determined to get it done and off my list.
That didn’t happen. I had more issues. Here is where I am. Can you see any progress? It was two nights of stitching and I hardly got anywhere. UGH.

I wanted to make sure I ironed it when I wrote this post, thinking I might end up loving it again. It didn’t really work. No…I won’t give up on it but I am not going to fight it like I have been. I decided that the block wasn’t going to get stitched this week. I was moving on for now.

I am stitching this on Atomic Ranch’s Frieze in 40 count.
I decided I needed something that was sparking my interest. I ended up pulling my Consider the Lilies by Heartstring Samplery. My daughter Kelli had brought her project home over Memorial Day Weekend, and that gave me a push to work on it.
About a month ago I started a border flower. I decided this project would be more of a comfort stitch. Do some repetitive border and quit worrying about the other project.

I ended up in a flower grove.

Ah…much more relaxing stitching. I ended up finishing that flower and moved on to stitch three more of them.

I had talked with Kelli and she asked me how I was tackling the border flowers. I told her I didn’t have a plan. She suggested I keep up with the border flowers as I stitch along. I thought that was a great idea so that’s the plan. I’m going to work on the flowers for a bit until I’m caught up.
One of the days I stitched on these, my grandson Carver was sitting with me. He loves to take that chart and figure out where I am on the chart. He likes to look at the symbols and let me know where I am at and what colors I need. It’s fun to have him “helping” me.

Carver and I were talking about when I started this and how far along I was. After careful consideration on Carver’s part, he announced that I wasn’t doing very well if I only had about 1/8th done if I have been working on if for about five years. Thanks, Carver…way to burst my bubble.
I am so happy with myself that I’ve been working on this more in 2026. I have no plans to finish it anytime soon…but if I keep picking it up from time to time. It could eventually get done. When/if I do, this piece will eventually be given to my granddaughter Lilly.
That’s all I have for you…It was a slow week of stitching. We have a wedding this weekend, so it might end up slow, too.
What are you busy working on??

Yep – there’s always that one cross stitch project that gets the best of you and has to go into “time out. ;-) I actually have one that’s been sitting in time out for a couple of years now. I had so much trouble with it and got so frustrated with it. So, I moved on. Maybe I’ll get back to it – maybe I’ll just leave for my dd when I die LOL ;-)
Love and prayers
I finished stitching a small, then picked up a 5” school house block that I’d cut out—enjoyed that hand piecing a lot. It had been a while. Have a good weekend everyone!
I’m still working on Jacob’s Quick Quaker Sal. I picked a main color but wanted a couple highlights and now can’t decide where to use them. Ugh! Really excited about my next start tho. Picked up Liz Mathew’s Busy Hands Happy Heart to do the pillow version on Weeks Guacamole linen. Hope it will be my summer project and have a sofa pillow by fall.
Love Carver! No nonsense from him. lol. The flowers on this piece are so pretty. All the colors are so cheerful and spring like. Is this your nephew’s wedding that you made the quilt for? Will you give it to them this weekend or have you already given it?
It is the nephew I made the quilt for. He’ll get it the quilt this weekend.
Please don’t tell Carver about the pieces I’ve been “working on” since 1986. LOL
In spite of the struggles I think you made good progress. You do such beautiful work. Have fun at the wedding!
