Cross Stitch Update: May 15th, 2026

It was another week of little stitching. Between the family being here and my time with Rick, cross stitch doesn’t happen as much as it previously did. I’m okay with that. People always come before hobbies.

I worked on my Garden Club Series by Blackbird Designs. Here is where I was when you last saw it.

I am stitching this on Atomic Ranch’s Frieze in 40 count. I like the linen, but have been frustrated with this block. Last week, I had to rip out the top border and re-stitch it. Now I found out the bottom was off too. I ended up ripping out the flower. I’ll fudge something there after I get the rest stitched.

Here is where I am now…

After I finish the tree, I am going to go in and add the rest. I am tired of ripping things out.

I also worked on my Americana Trio. I got an infusion recently and took it with me to work on. I was off on this, too. UGH. I figured out I was wrong on this too. I had to rip some of the border out. I ripped as far as I needed and then fudged it.

I ended up finishing this one…

and started another one.

I am stitching these on a piece of linen from Needle and Flax. She offers orphan linens. What they are is a miss dye. They are somehow flawed. It isn’t a big deal because there are just a few imperfections in them, and they are really reduced in price. My piece had a couple of blue ink splashes. They were tiny, and if I’m careful, I can easily work around them. For example, one of the blue dots is under the flag. I still have half a piece of a fat quarter that is perfect. The other half has about 3 blue dots on it. I’m just positioning some smalls on that piece so that the stitching will cover the dots. When she had a miss dye, the dyer offers them. I was able to get some medium colored linen. She offers light, medium, and dark. You can’t pick the exact color…just a general category for the colors. HERE is a link for ordering.

That is the only stitching I did this week. I had fun doing lots of other stuff, so I didn’t miss my stitching time too much. What are all of you working on?

  1. Jo, Used to send you quilts a couple of years ago. But when the husband died I got away from it, even from the computer. BUT I’M Back! Have two racks of quilt tops; do you want them? If so please tell me thwe current address to send them to…Thank you, Marie D. Vincze

  2. I like the little Americana one you finished. You are such a good example to us – putting people before hobbies. Many of us do that, well most of the time.

  3. have you thought about your cancer treatments meds might be knocking your vision a bit when it comes to your having to rip out stitches more often than usual ??? I only mentioned it because SIL and mother had issues with their cancer meds. And they were not having their everyday vision noticeably off but little techy depth things. Missing the slot on the head of a screw, slightly off with hems, etc, Tweaking eyeglass RX did adjust for them. Frustrations cured
