Cross Stitch Update: June 19th, 2026

I’m putting my story on repeat…I didn’t have stitching time this week. It’s been so busy with games, family, and grandma time.

I was taking a couple of pictures of my projects when I said to Rick I really didn’t get in much stitching time this week. He immediately asked me if it was his fault and said he didn’t want to take time away from my hobbies. I told him it wasn’t his fault. I just had new priorities and a new lifestyle that I still haven’t mastered. Right now, my priority isn’t cross stitch. Nowadays, I squeeze in a bit here and there but don’t carve out a space. I am sure things will get better by September when the kids go back to school, and I don’t have as much company. For now, my priorities are where they need to be and I’m happy to make whatever progress I make.

I worked on my Consider the Lilies from Heartstring Samplery.

I’m still on border patrol with this project. I was talking to my daughter Kelli about it, and she asked if I was getting bored with it. Nope, not a bit. Now that I’m not stitching as much, when I do pick it up, it’s fresh and fun…and I still have the pattern memorized. It’s 100% comfort stitching.

I’m stitching this on 40 count Vintage Country Mocha with the called for colors.

I did longingly look at my Patriotic Pears I had hoped to stitch and finish this year. I can see it won’t happen.

I also looked at my American Trio…another project I had hoped to finish that didn’t happen.

At least I have two of these stitched.

So not much stitching happened…but I’ve had a great week, so I count that as a win!!

  1. I think you have your priorities just right for now. Family, friends, and home. Think of all you’re accomplishing this summer with Rick and doing things with your family. So important! When we’re gone, they’ll remember the family time and activities with each other. A nice legacy.
    Love and prayers

  2. Jo, I am right there with you – I have only stitched one night this week as well. There is so much going on with home improvements, yard work and spending time with the grandkids. I also had a couple of patriotic patterns that I had hoped to get done before July 4th, but that isn’t going to happen. Late Fall to Spring are usually my most productive stitching time. I love reading your posts and am so happy for you – spending time with your family and Rick are most important!

  3. Doing and being there for family is priceless, the stitching will be there when you have more free time. Summer goes by so quickly. How nice of Rick to be concerned if he was the issue with stitching time, what a gem. Enjoy the summer fun with the grands.

  4. Enjoy your life now. Time passes so quickly and before you know it, it will be school time and you will be stitching again. Summer is wonderful and a great time to get out and enjoy everything.

  5. Jo, I think everyone would be happy for you if you took the summer off cross stitching. That way, it’ll be fresh and fun in the fall, and you won’t have to stress over not having anything to report on Fridays. Just a thought … I’m so glad you’re just enjoying life. Have fun!

  6. Jo, whatever you stitch, it is fun hearing about it, or it none stitched, that’s great too. We all know that your family must come first and foremost. Enjoy your time with Rick and others.

  7. It’s the darts, not Rick!!!! I am SO happy that you’re enacting your priorities. It’s important to do WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPIEST !!! The time (memories) w your grands will live on w them forever – how very lucky they are!! And, good food is always a good thing, too. Look forward to getting the blueberry cheesecake recipe — would love to make it for the 4th of July!!!
