Cross Stitch Update: July 31st, 2026

I didn’t get much stitching done this week…(broken record) HA! It’s the season, I think.

I was only able to pick up cross stitch twice this week. One day I sat with Anders while he was trying to fall asleep for his nap. Then I worked on Consider the Lilies by Heartstring Samplery.

I had a motif that was partially stitched. I left mid-stitching that motif a long time ago. I was happy to get back to it.

It’s a big motif, so it won’t be finished in one sitting. I started by just getting some of the dark green stitches in place. Here is where I got to…

Not much more.

Rick had his surgery yesterday, so I took my stitching with me to the waiting room. I got a little bit done…I was back on Consider the Lilies. I’ve been pretty faithful to this project.

He was only back in the operating room for 25 minutes, so I didn’t get much stitching done.

Rick and I got home just in time for the garage sale to start.

By the end of the garage sale hours, we had one person left. She was leafing through cross-stitch patterns. I didn’t want to hurry her, so I pulled out my stitching and stitched while I waited for her to be done. We chatted some while she shopped and I stitched. I didn’t get a lot more done, but I did get a bit done. Every stitch counts!! I left my cross stitch in the garage. My plan is to stitch tomorrow in between customers or if we get a lull in the crowd. If you’re local, there are plenty more goodies to be had at the garage sale. If you are a cross stitcher, there are lots of patterns and kits all at very reasonable prices. I think the highest pattern costs $2…Come on over.

I’m hoping to have some progress to share with you next week. Over the weekend, Nell and my daughters, Kayla and Kelli, plan to come for a couple of stitching days!! So fun!!

  1. You’re right – every stitch counts!
Good luck with your garage sale – hope you “get rid” of everything and make some $ ;-)
    Love and prayers

  2. I know you read the comments maybe faster than email. My tomatoes are coming on and once again I have lost your Yard Sauce recipe. Please repost.

  3. Wishing Rick a speedy recovery from his hand surgery. It feels slow, but once he is all healed up, he will be so glad he took care of the problem.
I so look forward to your cross-stitch updates every week, Jo! They are so motivating for me and ALWAYS appreciated, broken record or not. This coming week I will look for those little moments to put a few stitches into something rather than waiting to find big chunks of stitching time. Any stitching is progress, right? Have a good weekend, Jo. ~ Suzanne in Michigan

  4. You may not have gotten much stitching time, but I like what you did stitch. I sure would like to shop your cross stitch patterns. Have a grand time with the garage sale and hope you sell lots.

  5. I’m thinking I need to add Consider the Lilies to my Sunday Stitch stash. I’ve started His Eye is on the Sparrow and need to finish it first. And then there’s All Things Wise and Wonderful. There’s just not enough time to stitch them all!

I hope Rick has a speedy recovery! Take care!
