I had an unusual week…I spent much of it in a hotel while getting radiation treatments for my cancer. I didn’t have a sewing machine with so most of my time I thought would be spent cross-stitching. I had visions of getting lots done…let me show you what I did get done. Promise not to laugh.
I brought four cross-stitch projects. I didn’t know what I would stitch on. All I knew was that project bags are small and cross stitch is so portable, so why not? I could stitch on whatever the mood struck.
Before I left for treatment over Easter weekend, I pulled out my Garden Club series by Blackbird Designs. This is where I was when you last saw it. This is block four for me, so I’m doing okay, as it’s April and that’s the fourth month. I’m keeping up…but really, I’d like to be ahead. So I planned to get ahead this week.

…and I did. Here is where I am now. I am stitching this on Atomic Ranch’s Frieze in 40 count. It has a bit of pink and green mottling.

I am so happy with my progress. I finished the gardener and then went to the block above it.

I am changing some colors, but typically they are similar to the pattern cover, or I use a thread that was called for elsewhere in the chart.

I also brought Consider the Lilies by Heartstring Samplery. I’ve had a goal to work on it each week with the hope of stitching three motifs each week. Here is where I was…

Last week, all I did was stitch more of the words. Here is the progress I made this week…NONE!!
I am stitching this on 40 count Vintage Country Mocha with the called-for flosses.
I also brought my Faith Hope Peace Love from Teresa Kogut. Here is where I was on that. I am stitching this on Light Coffee from Xju Designs with the called for colors. I brought this so I’d have some easy fill-in if I was tired.

Here is where I am now…No more progress.
I also brought my Patriotic Pears. I figured they might be fun to start. But I didn’t start them either.
At the very last minute I threw in one more project…a new start. I only put a few stitches into this. I need my stitching chair at home and my normal set up. I’m not unable to stitch it here in the hotel. I just know it will be easier to stitch in my at home set up.

I am stitching Souvenirs of the Heart Star Spangled Spectacular on 28 count Mushroom Lugana with the called for colors. I am stitching it one over one. I’ve never done that before and I’m finding out it’s not that hard. It does take longer but not hard…and it’s so cute so tiny.
One might think I didn’t do anything the whole time I have been here…I did so some needlework…only it was wool appliqué.

I’ll have to tell you all about my wool work in another blog post as I really did a lot! I also visited THREE quilt shops and that took up some time as well.
I’m doing okay…happy…and so thankful today’s is the day I can head back home.

So happy to hear things you’ve been doing as I’ve spent the week thinking , “It Monday soho is doing,,……. It’s Tuesday so this may ge going on… “ And so the week has gone. If you didn’t get as much stitching as you planned that’s ok . Progress is progress! I can’t wait to see the wool appliqués . Did you get to see your sister?
I’m proud of the progress you made! I finished my speech for the keynote address at the conference. Are you proud of me?
Good for you!! It’s always good to have big things behind us.
So happy to hear that all is going well so far. Safe travels.
Sounds like you did plenty! Glad you are back home.
You made quite a bit of progress even if it was mainly on the one piece. I really like the last one you started – Souvenirs of the Heart. That will be a very cute piece. So glad you were able to do other things like visiting quilt shops!
Nice to know you had time to stitch on so many projects. You made real progress. I look forward to hearing about the quilt shops you went to.
Love all the projects you are stitching on.
It sounds like a fun time at the movie by all. Nice you spent time with the family.
Hope to see you one of this days, upstairs at the stitch shop
Progress is progress. Glad you were able to get out and check out some shops.
What a great week in spite of the cancer treatments. Your Blackbirds design is really coming along, looking terrific. Did you manage to see your sister? Love the bag where you are storing your wool project!! Looking forward to your wool update. Glad you’re doing so well.
The beautiful red linen arrived in my mailbox last week, so now I have all the supplies gathered for Patriotic Pears! I’ll start on them this weekend, but which one to make first? They are each so pretty. I don’t need to start a new project, but it will be fun to know you are making them, too. Glad your radiation week is over. Praying it does the trick on those spots. Forty years ago I had 6 weeks of daily radiation therapy. Ever grateful I had the option and that it helped, but it was hard. I’m glad you only had to do one week for this current issue! Love and prayers, Suzanne in Michigan
Your projects are all so pretty, and you’ve made great progress! I stitched the lady with the watering can in the Garden Series, as a single for my daughter. Love that one. Your whole piece is looking beautiful. You are an inspiration, Jo, and I pray things go well for you during your treatment. Blessings.
