Sorry I’m late with today’s post.
I didn’t get a lot of cross stitch in this week. I’ve been busy in the sewing room instead. You’ll see that when you read Monday’s “What I’m Working on” blog post how much I got done, but back to cross stitch.
Last week I finally got over my slump for the Garden Club series from Blackbird Designs. I had been stuck on this block for months. The colors were off…my stitch count was off. It was just a mess. Here is where I was at.

Lookie, Lookie…I FINISHED THE BLOCK!! I know that it seems trivial and not much stitching was involved, but it was a huge hurdle for me. I finally put that block behind me and can start fresh on a new block.
Here is where I am now…

I started the next block, but it’s only a tiny start. I’m hoping to finish this up by the end of the month.
I only have a tiny start on the border but I’m happy I have that. Starting the next block and getting placement is always a challenge.

I am back to thinking that if I concentrate, I can get this finished by the end of the year. YAHOO!!
I am stitching this on Atomic Ranch’s Frieze in 40 count.
As for the Blackbird Academy stitch-along, the prompt is to stitch something with a bird…Well, I can stitch the next block, and it falls into the category too. That makes me happy. I had been stitching on my For the Birds piece, but I might drop that…and go with the bird in this block.
There is a retreat at the Stitchery Nook this weekend. Kelli and I were planning on trying to go on Saturday. Sadly, we are not. Kelli was trying to juggle a babysitter for the kids. Rick offered, but in the end we decided we’d go to Carver’s football game on Saturday morning (if there is no rain delay), then come back to my house and stitch the rest of the day. Besides…skipping the retreat will save us some money.
Actually, Kelli and the kids are coming after school today, and we can stitch tonight too. I’m hoping for some progress…but mostly some fun!
I had a couple of blog readers ask for an update on Kelli’s big projects. I asked her to bring them, and we’ll take pictures and share how she is coming along. I’m off to prep some food, so we don’t have to cook so much while we are stitching.

I like the block you finished. So glad you were able to get it all figured out so you could finish it. I hope you and Kelli had fun stitching tomorrow and the rain doesn’t hamper the football game for Carver.
You two are going to have so much fun stitching together ! I hope you have a great weekend! I’ve never seen the little pattern you are just starting. I’m a huge Blackbird fan but for awhile they seem to be turning out so many designs I had trouble keeping up. Hugs,
I just imagine the get togethers with Kelli are even more fun/relaxing with Rick there. He just goes with the flow (meals, treats, playing with the kids, developing relationships with everyone) and overall, makes your life easier. Win, win, win. So happy for you.
How wonderful and fun to have a daughter who loves to quilt and stitch!
Stay at home retreat! Love it! And you guys can even stay in your pjs! Have fun! Make memories and happy stitching!
