Cross Stitch Update

I didn’t get much stitching done lately. I knew June would be tough on my stitching schedule. I was right.

I pulled my Miriam Dowd sampler and decided to take it with me when we went to the baseball game. I thought being it was 28 count I could easily stitch on this in the car.

Well I did pull it out. I did put in a few stitches but couldn’t concentrate so I put it away after only a bit of stitching.

Then I took it to Jerry’s one evening. I don’t have an awesome light there so again, I thought it would be the perfect thing to stitch on being it’s 28 count and easier to see. But…again, I didn’t put many stitches in. I was busy chatting with Jerry instead.

Lately I’ve been stitching on it more. It is easy to pull and work on when my brain isn’t into counting and only wants repetitive work. Here I was stitching one day when the grandkids were here.

All this to say, I made little progress. As you can read, my intentions were good. HA! I managed to get six bands stitched.

I am done with page one but have three more full pages to stitch. I’ll slow down on the third page because I will be personalizing it.

Can you believe it will take up all of this space??

I am stitching this on 28 count Wren from Picture This Plus. I am using the called for colors except DMC black. I subbed in Mascara instead. It’s a bit of a softer black.

I put some time into Faded Flag by October House. This is the stitch along piece. Here is where I was last…

I have enjoyed this one for the same reason…counting isn’t challenging.

I am close to a finish. I am writing this on Thursday evening. I just finished watching my grandson Carver’s ball game and am writing this blog post quickly before the Indiana Fever game starts. I’m hoping to finish the flag while I watch the game.

I had every intention of going back and working on this piece but I planned to do that towards the end of my stitching week and by then my shoulder was enough of a mess that I didn’t even touch any cross stitching. UGH.

My shoulder is a long ago injury that I had nursed back to health. Now it’s raising its ugly head again and hopefully, I will be able to nurse it back to health with a little bit of patience. I did find out after going to the chiropractor twice in an effort to fix it that I actually have had a rib out and that is what appeared to be a shoulder injury….but in the process of getting that back in place, my shoulder took the brunt and is sore and hurting. It is finally on the uphill swing and gradually getting better. Fingers crossed it stays that way!!

I have a treat coming up before long in July. I’m starting to think about what I want to bring to stitch on. Planning is part of the fun for sure. There are a couple of openings for the retreat if anyone wants to come. Drop me a note and I’ll give you the details. It will be in Osage, Iowa at the Stitchery Nook. It’s okay if you don’t know a single sole coming. We’ll take you and in a short time, you’ll be a kindred spirit. My email address is joscountryjunction@gmail.com. The dates are July 18-the 21st. It’s $50 per night that you stay. If you want more details, email me. Thanks…

I’m off to watch the game…Go Fever!!

    1. The pattern doesn’t have a “j” in that particular alphabet. I guess Miriam left it out in the original sampler!

  1. Don’t want to be a Debbie Downer, but you’re missing the “j” on the cross stitch, or is that intentional. I don’t cross stitch.

  2. You’re stitching is terrific. I also noticed the missing J but zi also know many pieces have left it out for one reason or another. Love and prayers

  3. I know this isn’t related to this post, but I wanted to let Elizabeth Withnell that I have been diligently working on the box of quilt tops she sent me. I don’t have a email address to contact her. I have 4 done, 3 more to go. I also don’t own a longarm, so I rent time to finish them. Thanks for sending them to me, I donate them to a local hospital and they go to the NICU.

  4. Well, again you accomplished quite a bit on your projects, but maybe not as much as you had hoped. Life comes first! I really like the flag and wish I had done it. I’m sure you will have it in your bowl by 4th of July! I hope your shoulder gets healed.

  5. I don’t want to be a naysayer or negative but on the Primitive Things sampler aren’t you missing the letter “j” in the last alphabet? Maybe it’s supposed to be that way. Either way, it looks wonderful and what great stitching, eye sight (had to give up cross stitch because of eyesight) and patience. Enjoy your new relationship. I’m very happy for you.

  6. well here is another comment about the missing J. the only reason i am mentioning it is because i believe you commented in a previous issue that since you are a J that you make a point to add them. ?????? did i misinterpret the previous comments ???
