Cross Stitch Update

I know. By now I should have shown you all the goodies that I bought from market. It’s on my to-do list to write that post but I haven’t had a big chunk of time so it hasn’t gotten done. Next week I hope. Plus…I’ve been on a push to get the things I already have going finished so I can start some new projects. It’s a tangled web I weave.

Sad news…I didn’t get a lot of stitching time in. The radioactive iodine that I took is kicking in with side effects. My skin is VERY rashy.

I’m showing you a picture of my hand but it’s like this up to my elbows, on my back, and bottom. I have prescription lotion and antibiotics. I’m on two different allergy meds. One doesn’t make me sleepy…one does. The one that does is putting a damper on my stitching at night.

Still, I am itchy and wake up in the night from it. For now, there is nothing else to do but let it run its course.

Because of all of this my night stitching has drastically decreased. (sad face) But, I’m not letting that get me down. Progress is progress and I still made some so I’m going with that and I’m going to be thankful some progress was made.

I only worked a bit on my Pet All The Dogs piece by Teresa Kogut. I stitch on it one evening for about a half an hour and then at the doctor’s office…Can you believe on top of all this I had an ingrown toenail??

I’m not even going to bother showing you more of a picture than this.

I did finish Chubby Bunny. This is one of our stitch along pieces. So cute. I only had to do the flowers at the top and and few other stitches here and there.

I put in enough stitches to say I started Chubby Bird but not too many. I’ve heard from a few people that the bird is challenging to count out. So far, no problems yet but there is plenty time for me to discount. I am stitching with the called for colors on a scrap of Picture This Plus Vellum 40 count linen.

I have Chubby Fox and hope to stitch that one too. I might do that as a Fall stitch working on him on the last day of every month. We’ll see.

Most of my time went into Though He Seemeth Sleeping by Lucy Beam. I am stitching this on 40 count Sleeping Bear linen from Needle and Flax. I am using a variety of the called for colors. Here is where I was last week.

Here is where I am this week. I told you it was lots of progress. I started out by ripping out the G and H in the top row and restitched them with a better color. Then I finished all of the alphabets.

I thought I would just start the vine and the first word of each verse so I could have it all land marked and then I’d be able to sit down and stitch on it more easily without a lot of counting for placement. That didn’t last. I just kept stitching and stitched the whole verse. HA!

I am hoping I might finish this by the end of the month. We’ll see. The band I started above the verse is of leaves and it will be kind of putzy. There will be lots of color changes and that never goes quickly.

Isn’t it funny…all three things I showed you today are within striking distance of being finished. The only thing is I wouldn’t have time to finish all three of them so I’ll likely stitch a little bit on all three and not finish any of them this week. Oh well.

I am starting to try to figure out what I’ll stitch next. There are so many possibilities. I know one thing for sure. I am going to start something from Market that I just bought…but which one?? I’ll show you the options soon. Promise.

Oh, and I got puppies to foster so that will slow me down too. But they are SO CUTE!! I’ll tell you about them too!

  1. I like your process – a little bit on each one. I have done the same with quilts – there are four in the works right now, plus I’ll have one to bind once it gets back from the Long Arm-er. I hope those puppies will help keep your mind off the itchies, and I REALLY hope you get rid of that side effect soon!

  2. Praying you get relief from your itchiness soon. And good luck with the pups!
You are right – any progress is good! I do love your works in progress tho.
    Love and prayers

  3. Love seeing your progress! Hope the pups don’t keep you too busy but can distract you from the nasty rash. ❤️

  4. I’ve been on antibiotics for most of a month too. Ugh. Just don’t forget the probiotics to balance their actions. I’ve been doing 1-2 yogurts and a pill most days.

That first photo of Pet All The Dogs really shows the color and texture. Beautiful!

  5. Great progress on Seemeth Sleeping! The sermon last week was on this verse…love the convergence. Good luck with the rash. Distractions may be the best medicine. Boy, a lot of teases in todays blog, can’t wait to hear “the rest of the story”.

  6. Arrowhead Gramma

Jo, so sorry to hear about the rash. Just remember to stay Kramer Strong and that this too shall pass. My prayers and good thoughts continue to be with you during your journey. One day at a time and take care.

  7. So sorry about your rash and itching. I can only imagine what you are going through, but my heart aches for you. I like your finished Chubby Bunny – so cute! I really like the saying on the Though He Seemeth Sleeping and your work is beautiful.

  8. Sorry the rashes have appeared, especially where they are located. Thank goodness you have meds & lotions to help with the discomfort. Hoping they do the trick soon.
Glad you have your stitching and the new puppies to keep you occupied.
Take care and know that we are praying for you.

    Teresa F.

  9. The rash….I always told my oncology patients, if you have side effects you know the drug is working. (Some are lucky. The drugs ARE working and they don’t have side effects.) I cannot even image the urge to itch and then try to suppress. My thoughts and prayers continue…..

  10. I just cannot imagine the awful itchiness from your rash. It seems to be your body’s processing this chemical and I am hoping it is killing those cancers once and for all. Sorry for such a clumsy sentence. It just seems to have been such a sneaky attack traveling about your body and not letting your medical care folks know where to be able to attack it. I know nothing gained by having this anger

  11. Don’t know if this would help with your itching with it being a side effect, but soaking in an oatmeal bath really tames down itching. You should be able to find a good oatmeal bathing soap ( soap-free of course) almost anywhere–I found some at our grocery store. Good luck. Love all the progress you’ve been making!
