Oops
This was supposed to be scheduled for yesterday. I accidentally put the wrong date in when I scheduled it. UGH. Here it is today. Enjoy…
VERY little cross stitch happened this week. I had a full week of dogs and grandkids. I’ll tell you more about that in an upcoming blog post…for now, we’re here about cross stitch.
I have a question from blog reader Liz…
She asked:
“But, what are the things that are securing the excess fabric called? I guess they are magnetic on the ends. I can certainly use them on a few of the larger projects. Thanks.”
I’m going to pop this picture of what she is referring to.

Here Janet is using magnetic cable ties. It’s a plastic “string” with a magnet at each end. It holds the excess fabric in place. Lots of cross-stitchers use them. You can order them HERE on Amazon.
Another reader asked what kind of hoop she has. She is using the largest size of the Nurge Hoops. You can find them HERE.
I worked two nights and finished Goodness and Plenty from Plum Street Samplers. I am used the called-for colors along with a scrap of Heartland by Picture This Plus. Right now the plan is to eventually stitch all three of the pillows in the pattern.

Here it is all finished!!

I ended up going on and starting another chart from the same pattern. It’s the alphabet one…

Next…
I worked on Good Intentions from Kathy Barrick. I love this one. I am stitching this on 40-count Fawn by Picture This Plus linen. I am using DMC. I am in love with the colors. They look so good together. Here is where I was last week.

Here it is. I only made a little progress stitching more words, the dog, and another pair of scissors.

I worked on my Blackbird Designs Birds of a Feather. I’m stitching this on a 40-count Dubloon by Picture This Plus. I am using the called for DMC.

I filled in the flower and stitched more of the stem.

I put ZERO time into my Pet All the Dogs piece by Teresa Kogut. I am stitching this on 40-count Seraphim linen in the color Boston with the called for colors.

Hopefully, I’ll have some progress next week.
The 25th of the month happened during this week. I stitch a Christmas or Winter piece on the 25th. This is Joy to the World by Lizzie Kate. I’m stitching this on a leftover piece of Lakeside Linen Vintage Meadow Rue. I’m using the called for colors. Here is where I was after one day of stitching last month.

I did make some progress on it…I’m hoping next month I can finish it. We’ll see. I might purposely stitch on it two days and try to finish it up in August. I like stitching these on the 25th. I’m hoping by Christmas I’ll have four new cross pieces for the season just by working on them on the 25th of each month.

That’s all I have for you…it was a slow week in the cross-stitch department.
I think I’ll get more stitching in this week. We’ll see. I never know what will come up in my world!!
I really like the Birds of a Feather piece!
Jo, everything looks wonderful! But, did you realize there is a spelling error in your “Good Intentions” piece? Stitched is missing a t. I don’t do cross stitch but enjoy seeing all the progress on your pieces and your beautiful work!!
YES!! I noticed that and have since ripped it out!! Thanks for letting me know!
You could be an editor. I find typos all the time. Just found one on the cover of Chelsea Handler book. They are everywhere. Easy to miss a t.♥️
I am unable to read Sweater Weather.
I like those magnetic fabric holders—seeing this made me think to try them on a medium size hand quilting piece. I think the loops are too short but maybe I can string two. Hmm.
Roxanne, they come in different lengths. Those in the link are 10 cm, or about 4”. But further down that Amazon page, they show some that are 9” long. Fish around on Amazon, there may be still other sizes.
They come in different sizes.
I’m sorry to point out that you missed the second “t” in the word “stitched ” in Good Intentions.
I love your blog & didn’t want you to get beyond the point of being able to fix it.
I ripped it out and am working on restitching. THANKS!!
Sorry about your missing t, no fun taking out stitches! Your work looks great. I think I would like to do the Christmas one. Thank you for the information for the loops because I had wondered about them also. It totally amazes me how people find so many nifty things now days!
I ordered the cable ties that you listed and they will work great on the smaller projects. I just ordered some longer ones to handle the bigger projects. I noticed that there were many pictures of cross stitch projects using these magnetic ties.
Thanks for showing the ties. And side benefit is that the ties will not go to waste since there are all sorts of cables that need tidying up!
I am currently working on a project and I’m almost out of #415. I went to Michael’s to buy another one and DMC changed the dye lot. It went from pearl gray to a purple color. Why would they do that? I am going crazy looking for the right shade to finish.
I can look to see if I have it.
I looked. I do have some. Mine is a gray. I can send it to you. Send your address to joscountryjunction@gmail.com
Janice
I have about 1/2 skein of #415.
I can send it too!
