Cross Stitch Finish: Tiny Town Nativity

I thought it might be time to FINALLY, fully finish my Tiny Town Nativity piece. It’s been sitting on my sewing room island and I thought it’s time to get it all done so I can enjoy it this Christmas. I found a fabric I decided to make work. At some time, I bought this at the thrift store.

I cut a small piece to put on the end and found a piece of trim that I liked with it.

I put interfacing between that and the two backing pieces.

I like to do my backings like this…Two pieces of fabric with interfacing on the back, then sewn together leaving a hole for turning and stuffing.

I put the front and backing pieces right sides together. Then I sewed all the way around the piece.

Time to trim..I clip the corners too.

Then I turned it right side out.

I stuffed it with a combo of poly-fil and crushed walnut shells. When I use the walnut shells, I always pack them down with a dowel stick. It seems like it takes a long time to pack them, but it’s totally worth it.

I closed the opening using a matching thread and the ladder stitch.

Here it is with the main part down…not off to find some type of decoration.

I added a pin and big star.

The lighting kind of washed it out…In person, it looks much nicer. I’d retake the picture, but it’s already packed away in the Christmas box. This was definitely a fun little stitch!! I’m looking forward to seeing it again at Christmas.
