I got a note from my friend Sue who works with a quilting group out of Decorah, Iowa. I have passed on goodies to her group in the past and they have made good use of them. The group donates tops to several worthy groups.
Sue writes:
“Thank you Jo and your quilting friends for the tops, fabric batting ect we have received from you. We used an adult quilt and a baby quilt at a benefit for a woman that is fighting cancer. We raised over $10,000 dollars. I am sending you pictures of several quilts we have made from tops and fabric you gave us. I know we got some from the Cresco quilters, and Barbra and Sue. Jacomina sent one she said was a little wonky hoping someone could fix it, we did our best, it turned out pretty good. We made 118 quilts for LWR as well as several school kits. We have also made about 100 for area people and organizations this year. Many of these were made from your donations. Thank you all from a grateful group of Quilters.”

What an amazing accomplishment for a small group of people.

“We are located in the Northeast Iowa area. We are a Church based quilting group that supports shut-ins, nursing homes, missions, homeless, Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, Lutheran World Relief, benefits, Community Action, fire victims, Project Linus, and other places we find a need.
We are looking for quilt tops (prefer twin size but others are excepted), fabric, batting, panels, orphan blocks, backing, and sheets(cotton or flannel).
For Project Linus, we make blankets/quilts for children age 0-18 in need of comfort. We are looking for tops (any size), cotton, flannel or fleece fabric, panels (baby to teen theme), batting, and backing.
No seasonal or stretchy material, please”.

Beautiful quilts! Those quilters certainly fill a big need in their community and elsewhere. I like seeing the quilts over pews for dedication. That is similar to the way the LWR group that I worked with did it. Thank you quilters!!
