Community Quilts from Ray

Ray is his busy self cranking out even more quilts!! Today I have two from him to share with you.

Ray writes:

Barbara K in IA made this awesome ABC’s quilt.

I sure do wish they had something like this back in the dark ages when I was in grade school Everything was blackboards. Boring! Love the bright bold background fabric to show off the black letters.

She included the backing fabric which is the same as the background fabric.

To me the fabric looked like a giant stipple. I used the stipple motif in black thread.

My thanks to you and Barbara for a great fun quilt.

Somehow I missed sending you info on one last quilt that was in the Airing of the Quilts. This beautiful HST quilt is from…

…Barbara L, in GA.

I love the fabrics she used to make the quilt and the pattern she selected. Very pleasing. I decided to go with the circle meander for the quilting as nothing seemed to lend itself with the diamond layout. Then to add a bit of fun to it I used a variegated thread in blue, pink and white on front and back.

Barbara included the dragonfly blacking and the blue polka dot binding with the top. It looked great, fluttering in the breeze.

My thanks to you and Barbara for a wonderful quilt to finish and donate.”

Wow!! Both of them were such great quilts. I love the way you all teamed up to do great work!! It’s just wonderful to see.

Ray as always…AMAZING work and thanks to Barbara for making the wonderful tops!!

  1. Jo, I don’t know if this is even possible. I am almost done with a quilt top that will be auctioned off at our church fund raiser in 3 weeks for a hunger relief program our missions deparment is raising money for. I work full time and do not have a long arm machine. I would need to quilt the whole thing on my domestic machine. Even though it’s only a lap size quilt, I am slow. I don’t think I’m going to have to time and was wondering if it is out of line to see if anyone would volunteer to quilt this for me? I will provide the batting, backing and the thread and will sew the binding on myself if I can get it back a few days ahead of time. I just don’t think I can get the quilting done by then without help. If you don’t think this is the kind of request you want to ask of your quilters, that is ok. Just let me know. I appreciate all you do for charity! Janice (janice(at)passionforperfume.com)
