Community Quilts from Ray

I have mail and finished tops from Ray to share with you today.

I received a wonderful package in the mail today from Patricia S. in LA. She sent me two wonderful quilts.

The first one is a string quilt and has a lot of selvages in it. Lots of time and stitching went into making it.

It measures 45 x 54.

The other one is a variation of an Around the World quilt. Love the way she incorporated color blocks into the top. It measures 45 x 70.

Thanks, Patricia.

Steve finished another quilt and wanted to share it with you…

Over time I seem to have accumulated a large assortment of fat quarters. I came across a Yellow Brick Road pattern that called for fat quarters. A step in the right direction…

Steve selected a bunch of fat quarters and I cut them to size and he set in piecing. I had forgotten how many seams there were in the pattern and how irregular the seams are in forming blocks. Lots of learning in this one.

I think he did a great job.

I selected the daisy motif and white thread for the quilting.

With all that pink, some little girl is going to love it!!

My thanks to you and Steve and everyone who contributed fabric for this quilt.

I finished this quilt and wanted to share it with you.

The feature fabric was in with some fabric I received and really loved it. It reminded me of a garden with butterflies and dragonflies amongst the plants.

When I saw this 3 yard pattern called Louvers, I knew it was a perfect match. I must admit I did purchase the purple fabrics but it was a necessity to get the quilt to look great.

After I pieced it, I long armed it with the butterfly motif in a light purple thread.

This quilt goes in a stack for the Airing of the Quilts in March. My thanks to you and the fabric donor for the inspiration to make this quilt.”

What a fun post…a quilt that Ray pieced, one Steve pieced, and more to longarm.  I love seeing everyone’s work and what’s even better is knowing all of these great projects will go on and be a comfort to others.  Thanks for your work and donations everyone!!

  3. All the quilts are wonderfully pieced and thoughtfully quilted. Lots of creativity, and scrappiness too. I appreciate seeing the backs, some closeups, and the sizes. Thanks for sharing everyone’s efforts.
