Community Quilts from Ray

When Rick and went to Michigan we drove through the northern part of Indiana. I was doing some English Paper Piecing. I looked up and saw a sign that LaGrange Road. I grabbed my camera and was going to take a picture and send it to Ray. For those of you who don’t know, Ray’s last name is LaGrange. Sadly, that was the last sign and I missed my opportunity to take a picture of it and send Ray a note telling him I was thinking of him. HA!!

Anyway…onto today’s community quilt post. It’s from Ray. He writes:

I took a quick break from all the commission quilts and longarmed this community quilt from Donna P. in FL.

Besides I wanted in on all the Christmas in July activities.

Better make that August.

Regardless, Christmas will be here before we know it. My thanks to you and Donna for your support throughout the seasons.

Tish M. from OH. set me this variation of a string quilt to me for the veteran dinner.

She used up a bunch of blue strings to make the blue blocks and then set them on point with red blocks.

Great idea and love the effect of it being on point.

My thanks to you and Tish for your gracious support of the veteran dinner.

I love both of the quilts. Thanks ladies for donating them. You all know how much I love all things scrappy. These are perfect. I’ve made a jelly roll race quilt like the first quilt but I’ve never made a scrappy crumb quilt like the second quilt. Oh my. I would love to make one. In fact, it’s all I can do to keep my butt in this computer chair and not run up and start one. Seriously though, it’s definitely on my list. I have so many little scraps that would love a home.

Many thank Ray for bringing these quilts to life. Your work is much appreciated.
