Community Quilts from Ray

Ray is busy at the longarm. I’m guessing staying inside in the air conditioning beats going outside in the heat!! HA!!

You just have to love the creativity and love that comes with each and every one of these patriotic quilts.

This one is from Holly M in IN.

The band of stars across the top really sets this one off.

My thanks to you and Holly for your support for the vets.

July is definitely here and a lot of what I see is “Christmas in July”. On the one hand it seems way too early when the temperatures are in the mid 90s. On the other hand if you are going to make anything for THIS Christmas, now is the time to get started.

Well, I had to join in and found this cute top from Barbara I. in FL.

WOW! Look at all those Christmas fabrics to set the mood. Then I found this adorable penguin fabric in the stash.

Even more fun. Besides, I feel cooler now. LOL!! My thanks to you and Barbara for your great support.

Oh my…great quilts. I love star blocks, and I love scrappy. I get the best of both with these two quilts. Can anyone tell me if the last scrappy quilt from Barbara is a potato chip quilt? You know me…it makes me want to run to my strip basket and jump in!! Such great quilts!! Thanks, Ray, for bringing them to life and putting them out in the world to help others.

  1. Sure looks like a potato chip block to me. You can add another ring around each block too. Really fun to sew.

  2. Yes, it looks like a potato chip quilt block. My block also has another ring, but it’s not necessary. The smaller blocks surely add to the interest and movement of this quilt. Give it a go, Jo!

  3. Definitely a potato chip block. I’ve made two where each block contained one color plus a neutral in one round for a less scrappy look. Quick, easy and fun to make, but didn’t make a big dent in my stash–haha!

  4. Great quilts! I always like seeing the patriotic quilts and this one is beautiful. The second quilt – potato chip – has so many pieces, but another good way to use one’s scraps.

  5. The patriotic quilt is beautiful and different. I love it! I really like the one everyone is calling a potato chip quilt. I’ve never made one before. Hugs,
P.s. did you make it to the retreat?
