Community Quilts from Ray

Ray is busy finishing quilts right and left. He said there is a bit of lull with customer quilts so he’s been making good use of his time and finishing some community quilts.

Ray writes:

Yes, I am still working on getting as many community quilts finished as possible with the lull in commission quilts. This time I grabbed a snowball quilt off the rack that Maureen M. in OH. made.

Maureen is an awesome quilter and I love her quilts.

This one in particular put me in a very relaxed mood with the fabrics she selected.

The other thing I noticed was that some of the fabrics were familiar to me. Not sure if it was from other tops or yardage that I have been given. My thanks to you, Maureen, and the backing donor for pieces for another wonderful quilt.

I am still trying to get caught up on quilts for the Airing. This quilt came from Maureen M. in OH. Maureen makes wonderful scrappy quilts from a wide array of fabrics and some of the smallest scraps as you can see from this Courthouse Steps quilt.

Amazing!! I used the stipple motif and neutral thread to longarm it.

The backing is from Lou Ann S. in IL.

My thanks to you, Maureen and Lou Ann for the support to make this quilt a reality.

I recently received this top from Carol S. in AZ along with some other tops and UFOs. This top did not make it onto the self. As soon as I saw it, I wanted to finish it so it could to be the raffle quilt at this year’s Airing of the Quilts on March 16.

I knew I was getting close to the wire but these quilts just keep calling me to be on the line. So here it is to view and enjoy.

I used a stipple motif for the longarming in white thread.

The backing is a dark navy wide back I had in the stash. I love the pop on the back.

Carol also sent some of the leftovers from the top and in that group was the navy with gold stars fabric that I used for the binding. My thanks to you and Carol for the support for this awesome quilt.

Maureen and Carol…thanks so much for the tops. WOW!! I love them all. I’ve yet to make a true bargello. My daughter Kalissa has asked me to but I’m not very organized so I think I’d fail!!

Thanks so much for the backing donors and of course to Ray. GREAT work as always!!

  1. Beautiful quilts! I can see why you chose the bargello for the raffle. So striking it would draw the eye of everyone!

  2. Love the snowball quilt! It looks like a true scrappy quilt with many varied fabrics. And they all work; it’s so pretty!

  3. All very beautiful quilts! You have been very busy, Ray, and thank you for quilting these. Thanks to Maureen and Carol for donating such beautiful quilts.
