Community Quilts from Ray

Oh my word…Ray is one busy guy. He has another set of community quilts finished and ready to share with you today.

Ray writes:
All the heat and humidity are ideal for watermelon eating. They are always so cool and sweet. When I saw this quilt the other day, I knew it was perfect for this time of the year. So here is a beautiful watermelon quilt courtesy of Patty K. in FL.

Patty likes for her quilts to go to Quilts for Kids so it is off to the Sew and Sew group to bind and deliver.

My thanks to you, Patty, and Sew and Sew for the assistance on this summertime special.

Sharon D. in NJ made this beautiful quilt and sent it to me to finish and donate to a vet.

My apologies to Sharon because I did not notice that the top was entirely hand-pieced when I received it. I stand in awe and amazement at the talent to handpiece a quilt top. I see very, very few of them. As I was pressing the top to prep it for longarming, I noticed that the seams were different. When I investigated, I discovered hand piecing.

I immediately knew that I needed to use the Baptist fan for the motif and a bone-colored thread.

Gorgeous quilt!! The backing is from Arline H in FL stash.

My thanks to you, Sharon, and Arline for the generous support to finish this quilt.

Donna F in NY made this awesome patriotic quilt starting with a panel.

Amazing what she did to enhance that panel and keep that wonderful patriotic spirit going. WOW!!

I went with the twig motif to add even more movement to the quilt with a variegated red, white and blue thread.

I love the excitement in this quilt and I am sure a worthy veteran will also.

The backing is from the Arline H stash.

My thanks to you, Donna and Arline for your generous support with another patriotic quilt.

What’s not to love about a summertime and patriotic parade. I loved all of the quilts!! Thanks so much to Ray and everyone else who pitched in to make these happen. I just love being surrounded by people who give of their time and talents.
