Community Quilts from Pat

I have quilts from Pat to share with you today. Some of you might remember Pat as the blog reader who put out an SOS wanting quilt panels that were appropriate for preschool-aged kids. The group that she works with includes retired gals that work with a fixed income. So Pat was seeking panels to help cut their costs in the making of the quilts.

Pat writes:
Today we delivered 80 quilts and 3 teacher’s map wall-hangings to the Elementary School for the pre-K kids.

The quilts were loaded in the car- we then put them in large garbage bags and brought them into the school. When we got them into the school, we took them out of the garbage bags, and they were stacked in a storage room.

We were greeted at the front desk clerk, the Principal, and the Assistant Principal. They were extremely grateful!

The label is made so that the teacher can put the child’s name on it and they can then use it at naptime. At the end of the school year, the quilt is theirs to take home.

The teachers will distribute the quilts to the kids in the coming weeks.

We learned that they only have 2 Pre-K teachers now, and they are expecting more kids to register, possibly reaching 100!

We will be getting the remaining 20 quilts they need off to them soon. The new batch for next fall will be started in October and we will end when we have 100 to give everyone a break.

Thank you, Jo, and to your readers for sending the panels needed, we received 200 panels and a few quilts! Your readers are the best!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Hugs and Prayers to all!

Wasn’t that a heartwarming post? WOW!! I just love hearing about this program. Pat, you have a wonderful group to work so hard to help the children.

Blog readers, you BLEW ME AWAY with your generous donations. THANKS SO MUCH!!

I’m sure Pat will soon be collecting panels for more quilts. If you have some age-appropriate panels for preschool-aged kiddos, feel free to let Pat know. You can contact her at plrbr1120@gmail.com.

  1. WOW! What a trunk load of beautiful quilts. Such a special service your group does for the children at this school. Keep up the great work and thank you!!

  2. FYI I am unable to read “Please help Jazz” and “Community Quilts from Joey.” I tried googling them separately and it did not work.

  3. Wow! What a brilliant group of quilters! There are going to be some very lucky children. Your blog readers are so generous and kind.

  4. Beautiful quits for some well-deserved, precious kids – thank you Pat, guild, and everyone involved!
    Love and prayers

  5. If you do not receive enough donated panels, check out A Thousand Bolts and One Nut. They occasionally have panels on sale for a very reasonable price. I tried sending this info to Pat using the email address, but got a message that the email address does not exist.

  6. Loved seeing all those beautiful quilts and the kids are truly blessed. The children are lucky to have all of you make them a quilt to keep. Bravo!!

  7. What School?
We do quilts for Foster Kids!!
So they have a least 1 item they can take with them when they are pushed from home to home. We are trying to make the best for children so they know someone cares!! God Bless all these children and keep them safe!!
