Community Quilts from Lori

I always love getting emails from Lori. She always does such great work finishing quilts for Sharehouse.

Just finished this wonderful quilt, it was sent to me from Utah.  It has been sitting with me for quite some time, and I finally got around to quilting it.

The generous quilter who sent it to me sent the quilt top, along with 108” backing and binding fabric…THANK YOU!  It is so great when I don’t have to dig in my stuff to find something that doesn’t quite do the quilt top justice.

Here I have it all loaded on my Longarm; I quilted Bountiful Feathers on the quilt, and it looked great.

I learned from and Jo and have a rope tied up on my porch to hang my quilts from.

This donation quilt will be given to “Sharehouse”, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility that houses women and men.

I am grateful to the quilter who donated the quilt makings and to Jo for giving me the opportunity to finish and donate this quilt.  THANK YOU!
The last quilt I finished for Sharehouse was in April; hopefully I can get a few more done this fall.

Mary from Country Threads recommended a book on her blog, “She Didn’t See It Coming” by Shari Lapena, I got the audiobook and listened to it while I was quilting yesterday.  It sure made the quilting go fast.  I also would recommend this book.

What a simple but pretty quilt. I love that it could easily be a gal or a guy quilt…and me, I love blues and simplicity in quilts. Thanks, Lori, for your great work. The motif you picked was perfect. Many thanks to the person who donated the top…it’s lovely.

  1. I was amazed at how the binding stripes match up at the corners. Lori did a beautiful job with the quilting and binding. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I thought at first the blue squares in the 25 patches wete all the samr, but then I looked more closely. I love the way the blue colors shift. It, and the beautiful quilting, give the project such movement!

  3. Gorgeous quilt beautifully enhanced by the quilting. I am very impressed with the machine-stitched binding. That is a skill that I need to improve! So many of the charities want it stitched that way. My lines still wobble.

  4. Beautifully done from start to finish! I’m currently reading She Didn’t See It Coming right now, also on Mary’s recommendation. It is SO HARD TO PUT DOWN!! I’m buzzing right through it!

  5. Such a beautiful quilt! Lori did super job quilting and binding it. Like many others stated, I’d love to be able to machine bind my quilts and have such good results. I guess maybe I should practice. I like the motif also.
