Community Quilts From Karen

I have community quilt from Karen to share with you today.  Karen has been busy on these for some time.  She waited and sent me several finished quilts at once so you are in for a treat!

Karen writes:
These tops were sent to me by Kay M from Forrest City, Iowa.  I have quilted several and still have a few more in my to-be-quilted bunch.

This one measures 36X36 and is a cute panel with coordinating blocks added.  I quilted it with a free-hand allover loop and meander design.  Binding and backing from my stash.

This one and the next one were donated to a local volunteer fire department to keep in their ambulance for kiddos who might need warmth and comfort.

This one measures 34X48 and is similar to the last one in the fabric used.  The quilting is an allover meander with a flower in the center of each block.  I used a similar color tone for a scrappy binding and the backing came from my stash.

This is the last one from Kay in this bunch.  It measures 35X39.  I quilted it with an allover meander of loops and hearts.  Binding and backing came from my stash.    I will have more from Kay later.

Next up:  Quilt top, backing and binding donated by Paulette H from Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.  Winterberry it measures 56X56 and was quilted with the pantograph Funky Fans.  It was donated to Churches in Mission.

I really like everything about this quilt.  Beautifully pieced.    I have several more tops from Paulette that are in the “waiting for me to finish a few personal projects before I get back to quilting” pile.

These two came from Katie P., Janesville, WI, and were blocks that needed to be put together.  Thanks to Janet from my quilting guild, for putting the pieces together to make beautiful quilt tops.  Both of these were donated to our local Churches in Mission. This measures about 48X60.  I used my Funky Fans panto for the quilting design.

The backing came from my stash and Katie sent the binding.

The second one measures 60X60.

I am really drawn to the pinks, even though it isn’t my favorite color.  I used the panto Hearts in Bloom to quilt this one.

I have two more from Katie that are in process.

And last but certainly not least — these were sent to me by you, Jo.  I am assuming they came from the Cresco, Iowa ladies.  The first one is 47X47 and is quilted with a free motion meander.  Backing and binding from my stash.

Backing and binding came from my stash.  Maybe orphan blocks.

This one is 45×45 and was quilted free-handed with Stars.

And last, but certainly not least, this one is 41X47 and I used an allover meander to quilt.

Backing and binding from my stash.

WOW!  Wasn’t that a treat??  Karen was definitely a busy girl.  I’m so impressed with all of her work.  She really did an amazing job on these.  Thanks so much to Karen and the donators of the tops.  You did great work from the first cut to the final stitch in the binding!!

  1. Beautiful quilts! Quilts and quilting very nice. Thanks to all who made these no matter which step you did!

  2. Beautiful quilting, Karen! The Thimbleberries “Winterberry” quilt was a kit from one of Jo’s readers, Connie in WI, and was a pleasure to piece. Thanks for the opportunity, Jo!
