Community Quilts from Joey

Joey was so busy over the last year finishing quilts for the community quilt project. Here is her latest installment of quilts.
Joey writes:

These are from Darlene in MN. The backings are king-size duvets found free on Marketplace in Dodgeville, WI just 8 miles away.

I’m loving the splashed paint fabric with the tails opposite blocks in this quilt & the next 45 x 63

The backing is a vintage print. I quilted circles to mimic the cherries on the backing

This sashed 4 patch measures 37” square, I quilted this with a meander.

Backing was a part of a duvet.

Again a meandering for this teal quilt measuring 39 x 43

The backing of a duvet

I was trying a new feather in the border & loops & curls, measuring 39 x 47

This beautiful batik was donated, binding is the batik too.

The next few are guy quilts, all with tape measures & tool fabric backings from a navy duvet & a plaid duvet, bound with the plaid

This quilting is the first time I tried a square meandering. I think it looked great 45 x 58

These woodland animals are so cute. This is 43” x 43”

The backing is from a cotton sheet & quilted with leaf meander

More Tools, 43 x 55. I used the blocks to quilt channels in opposite directions

Plaid duvet for backing  & bindings

Tools & channels quilting 43 x 57

That plaid is just what these quilts needed

Tools & square meander 46 x 58

This is a panel,  sorry for the fuzzy photo. 43 x 58 quilted with a meander.

Backing is a cotton sheet, bound with a teal remnant donated.

Another cute panel, quilted with serpentine columns. 38 x 50

Bound in teal

Square in a square 40 x 50 serpentine quilting

Cotton sheet again

More to come! All donations going to SWCAP.

Thank you all for the donations of tops, backing, bindings.

I’m needing to take a break from taking donations for a bit, I have a bunch of tops to quilt. I also have customers to take care of.

WOW…Great work! I just love seeing them all. I can’t believe how quickly Joey cranked these quilts out. AMAZING. It was the work of the Cresco Ladies on these quilts tops. YES…they are still working away!! I’m always so impressed by their work and Joey’s work. Together they make an awesome team!! THANKS ladies!!

  1. Such nice quilts and I really like how each was quilted. Thank you for your diligence helping make some recipients feel loved and can cuddle and be warm in.

  2. I’ve never seen square meandering. I’m wondering if that is a motif suitable for free motion quilting; yet another thing on my bucket list to try. They are lovely quilts that are sure to be appreciated

  3. Oh, Joey! What a delightful show of delightful quilts on a frigid Wisconsin night! That feather in the border is STUNNING! I’m so impressed with your quilting – & with the awesome tops you get. And free fabric for backing? That price is right!
