Community Quilts from Joey

Joey has really become a regular on the Community Quilt project posts. She’s busy-busy working her magic on these community quilts.

Joey writes:
This first one I accidentally forgot to include in the last grouping. It’s from Darlene J in MN. It’s a lovely quilt, 45 x 60.

Sizes are approximate. This is a sweet little improv quilt, I brought the backing around to make it bigger. 50 x 48. Anonymous donor top. Backing from Jane W.

This quarter square triangle quilt from Anonymous measures 39 x 47. I think I’ll have enough backing to bring around for a border. Flannel backing from me.

This cute little 44 x 52 bunny quilt came from a friend cleaning out her sewing room, I needed to finish it up before quilting. Jane W donated the bunny fabric for backing

This one I think is from the Cresco ladies. I did overall feathers in red, I supplied the backing. 44 x 60.

These are cheater blocks that came my way from St Clements Quilters in Lancaster WI. I sashed, bordered, quilted & bound for a good size twin 72 x 90. Backing border binding from my stash.

Another twin cheater blocks. Sashed,  bordered quilted & bound from my stash.

I still need to bind a couple of these before donating to SWCAP.

Wasn’t the bunny fabric so cute…and what a fun cheater quilt!! So many good things to look at and see. I just love getting emails from Joey and the other community quilt finishers. Their work inspires me to want to do more. THANKS for being such a great influence on us all Joey and those of you who donated to the project!!

  1. going to show my ignorance AGAIN. what are cheater blocks. ? i tried to see a theme to the design results and came up with a zero before inquiring.

  2. I have 2 twin sized quilt tops done and 2 more soon plus the backing. I would like the email address of the woman in Indiana who wanted twin sized quilts for a bed give away to kids who now no longer need to sleep on the ground. Or the woman who gives quilts to foster children. I have a great granddaughter who started out as a foster child.
Thanks for what you do, Anyone who would like me to send them the tops, please email me at mskareninman1@gmail.com
I also have 10 yards of white flannel that I bought for the “batting” for Christmas tree skirts but than decided to use polar fleece. I have 2 yards of white with blue dots and one with animals, flannel as well. I would send it to the first who requests it. Karen Inman–Again my email address is mskareninman1@gmail.com

  4. The organization is Sleep in Heavenly Peace. There have organizations all over. They don’t believe that anyone should have to sleep on the floor. Thus, they make beds and provide the recipent with frame, mattress and bedding. My quilt guild is making some quilts for them. Wonderful group.

  5. Very nice quilts. Thanks to all who made these and donated them. Thank you, Joey, for quilting and finishing them for such a worthy cause.
