It was that time in the week when I needed to look through the email and write a blog post about Community Quilts. Happily there was an email from Elizabeth. She writes:
Here are three more quilts that I have finished. Â
They are all scrappy and perfect for children so I donated them to Project Linus. On the first one, I used cookie cutters to trace and then quilt boys and girls in the solid squares, but when I finished, I realized they were all sideways to the way I put on the borders! I hope the recipient won’t mind. I pieced the back to this quilt and to the others as well, but when I added the photos, my computer objected to the size of the email, so I left them out. Suffice it to say I used many miscellaneous pieces, including alphabet fabric and some solids that I had, all in service of whittling down my piles of fabric. I am pretty sure the Cresco Ladies made the top.

The second one I quilted with free form swirls and backed with a cute aqua speckled fabric. I think the quilt was pieced by “Mary,” but I mislaid any information that came with it, so I can’t be sure. It has snails on it that I thought were quite cute.

The third quilt was also made by the Cresco Ladies; they have a way of putting blocks and scraps together that I envy. I quilted it with a meander.

I have a couple more finishes of baby-sized quilts, although the fabrics are not particularly juvenile. I will send those when I figure out who the lucky recipients should be.
Thanks for sending these tops. They were fun to finish.
These quilts are all cute. I’m sure kids could have some fun playing eye spy with these. Many thanks to the Cresco Ladies for the tops…and Elizabeth, you did great work finishing them.

I looked on your donation list and couldn’t find Elizabeth or Project Linus. Is there a way to contact Elizabeth? Thank you.

Such sweet quilts for children. Lovely finishing. Elizabeth!
Great quilts for a very worthy cause. They are both so colorful.
Sideways quilting just means there are happy kids in many directions. Fun quilts sure to bring joy!
Are the Cresco ladies taking fabric donations.
