Lori recently sent an email filled with wonderful pictures of her latest quilt that will be donated to Sharehouse. She writes:
I pulled this quilt top and backing out of a box that was Adele A from Layton Utah.

She had also previously sent me other wonderful quilt tops. This pink top was one of three that is in the box. I will do the next two quilts. This strip quilt is made with pinks and browns, so pretty.

And there are three stars off to the left. I’m not sure where this pattern is from, maybe Adele created this beauty.

The quilt finished at 80” x 92”. The top was much longer, but I trimmed off the bottom to make the backing wide enough to load on my long arm.

When quilting on a Longarm, I need extra fabric on the sides so that the machine doesn’t run into the clamps.

Adele had included a beautiful backing that matched so nicely. I used a baptist fan for the quilting design.

When I trimmed up the quilt, I used the leftover backing for the binding.

I believe that the quilt just came to life once it was quilted and bound.
Thank you Adele and Jo for allowing me to finish and donate this quilt to Sharehouse, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility.

It will warm and comfort a well deserving individual.
Friends, if you aren’t a longarm, you likely don’t know that deciding on a quilting motif is as hard as deciding what is for supper. I think the Baptist Fans worked great on this. I can say that because I longarm quilts…and I love the Baptist Fan motif!!
Great work Adele and Lori…the quilt finished up beautifully!

Beautiful quilt!
Beautiful – those colors are so pretty!
Love and prayers
The stars are a sweet addition on this beauty. Well done Lori and Adele
Ooh, what pattern is it?
Love pink and brown for quilts, so warm and cozy looking. Have been eyeing that very pattern myself. Great quilt come to life.
This quilt is beautiful! I keep thinking about your break up and your sweet attitude. I love this saying on a cross stitch pattern I have that says something like: Don’t be sad about the present. Be glad it you had the past. If I could find the dang pattern, I could tell you the right saying! This is my next cleaning project–right after I get this current baby quilt done. Best wishes to you and your adorable current little boyfriend who will never call it quits.
Beautiful quilt ladies. It will certainly bring a smile to the person who receives it.
I discovered with my first long arm that side leaders are game changers. I made mine about 8 inches deep and 12 inches wide. There is a pocket for a dowel on one end. The “leader” gets pinned to the quilt and than the side clamps are clamped onto the dowel. I never have to worry about my machine hitting the side clamps. I have quilted a quilt with as little as 1.5″ on each side!
Darlene, I am very intrigued by this idea. I can’t quite picture it. Do you have to move the side leaders (unpin, repin) as you advance the quilt?
Beautiful quilt Lori and Adele! The browns and pinks are some of my favorite color combinations. The stars make the quilt very unique.
That is a beautiful quilt and such a worthy cause.
So now I have to make a pink and brown quilt…. The list keeps growing but that quilt is beautiful.
I’d love to see a picture of your side leaders.
