Quiltmaker sent our quilt, Cinder Block, back to us. The pattern is in the current issue. You can find it on news stands now.
For this-I was the designer..Kelli the piecer and me again for the finish work. We make a great team!
The magazine does an awesome job of showing it off…much better that my pictures. It’s actually a gray color. Mine make it seem more blue.
I love the swirly more feminine quilting motif with the boxy look of the blocks. I actually think with would make a great bed quilt…not feminine and not masculine. It’s also a great quilt for a gift when you don’t know what someone’s style is. It’s just contemporary.
This is made with Moda’s Bella Solids. The gray is their Silver 9900183 and the white is White Bleached 990098. When I ordered the fabric from the sample room I asked if they had any backing fabric that would work with the top. I wasn’t picky..just something white and gray. This is what they sent and I love it!! It was a perfect choice. It’s a V and Co fabric.
I can imagine this quilt in many different color ways….in school colors for a graduation quilt…in purple and gold for a Minnesota Vikings fan. I can even imagine scraps where the white is and a solid color for the gray. It doesn’t have to be a two color quilt.
Taking the pictures with just a bit of snow on the ground makes the blocks almost look like snowflakes.
This quilt was so in those last crazy days of April this year. I think the fabric came in on a Monday and the quilt was sent out the following Wednesday….CRAZY!! Those are definitely deadlines I don’t care to chase anymore.
It’s funny with quilts that go into magazines-even though the quilt is finished, it never really feels finished until it’s home and write a blog post about it. Then is really feels like the project is put to rest.
I had another finished quilt this week. If you missed it, you can see it here.
Today I am hooking up with Confessions of a Fabric Addict, Crazy Mom Quilts, and Link a Finish Friday.
I totally love this quilt. Can’t wait to read more in Quiltmaker. Your choice of fabrics is perfect! This design will definitely be on my list to make.
I’ve not made a two color quilt but when I saw it in Quiltmaker this week, I put it on my to-do list. I love it and I love the gray & white – which I would NEVER have thought to do! Thanks for all your inspiration. I enjoy following your house project as well. It sure gets exciting when it starts really coming together!
I love red and white quilts and that would also
look amazing in those colors.
A modern take on Burgoyne Surrounded.
Beautiful, refreshing design and execution.
Another for my list!
I love two color quilts! The quilting is amazing on this. I might have to make one in green and gold for my Packers!
Beautiful finish! I love classic design and the gray, 2-color scheme.
This quilt is a knock out. Way to go, Bonnie and Kellie. The two of you are amazing.
PERFECT!! And look at your pup…posing like a super star!!
what a great quilt, can’t believe you made it in 2 days! Oh, that would have been so stressful! I have worked on many projects for MBS, but I would LOVE to design a quilt for a magazine! Please tell me how you go about it applying!

You’re right–this quilt would please anyone. It’s a great combo of traditional and contemporary. I really like how the blocks make a diagonal design across the quilt.
