When I was growing up my brother Jay often made cookies on Sunday afternoons. His specialty was Chocolate Chip cookies. This simple recipe makes a HUGE batch but they freeze well and I love having a treat just a freezer away.
Here’s the recipe:
Melt two sticks of margarine
Add and mix:
2 cups white sugar
2 cups brown sugar
2 teaspoons baking soda
5 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
Add 5 cups of flour, one cup at a time. Mix well. Add your desired amount of chocolate chips. Scoop onto cookie sheets. Add three chocolate chips to the top of the cookies. Bake at 325 until golden.
Remove when the cookies are puffy like this.
Let them sit on the pan for 1 minute. The cookies will deflate and crinkle.
Remove them and put on a drying rack.
They are WONDERFUL and chewy. I’ve been making them for years and years….Never once have I even thought of trying a different chocolate chips cookie recipe. I’m not quite sure how many the batch makes. Let’s just say this many….
..and about a dozen more that have already been consumed.
Yum! I love chocolate chip cookies and I’m so happy to see a recipe that freezes well since there are just 2 of us. Thank you for sharing!
Well I use Jay’s Grandmother’s bread recipe–I think I’ll try his cookies!
Thanks for showing us this post. The fact that you are making those cookies for years make you like a chocolate chip cookie master somehow. Cookies are always great especially if you need that sugar rush.
Tried these and it is now our favorite recipe for them except my hubby likes english toffee more so we just switched that for the chocolate chips. My daycare kids also love them:)
