Charity Quilts from Ronda and Friends

Ronda has been busy again.  It’s always fun for me to see what she is working on.  I sometimes forward tops on to her and am always curious if one of those will be in the group she has finished.  I’m sure others of you who send quilts wonder the same.

Today, Ronda writes:
The first quilt I have to share with you was a top that you forwarded on to me from Barbara in NM.  It is a nice 54 X 64 lap quilt in beautiful colors.”

I totally agree on Ronda’s words saying this was such nice blend of colors this top had.  I saw it in person and was very impressed.

The backing is from Linda L. in WI.  She sent me what looks to be almost a whole bolt of this peachy fabric.  I think I’ve used it on three quilts so far and still have a ton of it left.  It works well with so many quilt tops.”

The second quilt is made from Bonnie Hunter’s pattern, Pineapple Blossom.  It came from Linda in AZ.  It’s a very large 86″ square” .

“I love the fabrics she used on this one.”
Another perfect backing fabric too!!!

Both of these quilts will be used for fundraisers that are coming up this year.  The Annual Humane Society Quilt Auction and Lincoln’s Legacy, both which are good causes.

Also, I just wanted to mention that I read all the comments left by your blog readers and they are all so kind and say such nice things about the charity quilts.  I couldn’t donate all the quilts I donate without the help from people like Linda and Barbara, Debbie S., Cindy E., and many others who send me or you tops, fabric, and blocks to finish up.  I really appreciate all of it.”

Something you all might not know is that I actually met the famous Ronda (Ronda, on the right, Bonnie on the left)and saw Bonnie Hunter the first time when Kelli and I attended a retreat in Storm Lake Iowa.  At the class we made Pineapple Blossom.

Ronda reminded me of this….”Funny thing is the picture of Bonnie with me at the retreat in Storm Lake, Iowa, where I first met you, Jo.  We made the Pineapple Blossom as one of the classes she taught that weekend.  Remember?

I thought I’d show you Kelli’s version of Pineapple Blossoms.  When she first said she was doing it in all browns, I wasn’t very excited about it…but seeing it finished, I loved it.  PineappleBlossoms-1
This is my version.  I stuck to browns and greyish blues.

At the same retreat, I met Nell.  This is Nell’s version.  It’s so fun to think back on that time and realized how many people I met who have gone on to become a regular part of my life.

Were any others of you at the retreat in Storm Lake Iowa where Bonnie taught?  Chime in a leave a comment if you were!!

If you are looking for the pattern  for Pineapple Blossoms you can find it here on Bonnie Hunter’s website.  It’s a free one and well worth checking out.

Thanks so much Ronda and all the people who donated to make these quilts happen.  I’m excited that they will be used for some good causes.
