I know each and every one of you has you own opinion about refugees and I am not about to get into a debate here. Me, myself, I choose to ignore the politics of it all and look at the people. I know if I felt my family were in danger, I would do all I could to get them to somewhere that I felt they were safer. I would attempt legal means first but after that, I’m a momma bear when it comes to protecting my cubs- I’d do what I had to do. I would hope were I in that situation, somewhere out there, someone would be willing to lend a hand.
In the past our family has been very supportive of Lutheran World Relief. We love the work they do. This time we decided to extend and help another organization, International Rescue Committee. They help refugees from all over the world. The group is fiscally responsible sending the majority of the money they bring in on helping the people.
Kayla started the idea by offering an afghan that she made on Ebay….Kelli and I thought it was an awesome idea so we decided to donate one of our quilts. So here is your chance to help our neighbors through the International Rescue Committe and to get a great handmade product from the Kramer girls.
First up is Kayla’s afghan…
You can read more about it on her blog or on the eBay auction page.
Kelli and I will be auctioning off this quilt: Happy Surprise; The original quilt featured on the cover of the 2016 American Patchwork & Quilting calendar. It is 80″ x 92.” We’ve blogged about it here. Unlike other auction posts, you have to head over to eBay for this one. Your payment will go directly to IRC and we will ship the quilt from my home.
Bidding ends next Tuesday, July 10 at 11:22 CT.
Please keep comments kind, this is not intended to be political. We only want to help a person who needs a helping hand. I hope you do as well. Please consider bidding and sharing the auction page on social media.
Love that you are reaching out to the strangers among us. We are also supporters of IRC. Here’s hoping your beautiful work will warm people’s hearts in more ways than one.
This is so kind of you and your girls, and such beautiful work. Thanks to you, I’m back on Ebay again!
Good luck,
Sylvia@Treadlestitches
