Have You Gotten a Mammogram?

At the beginning of August, I was in to see my doctor for my physical and she suggested I go in and have a mammogram.  I  had one done a couple years ago and wasn’t impressed (pressed but not impressed) by the whole proceedure.  I put it off and didn’t tell my family that I was supposed to get a mammogram because I didn’t want to hear all the nagging about me going.

Well…I finally went yesterday and guess what?  It wasn’t bad.  I was in and out in 20 minutes.  The tech was wonderful!  She got all the photos she needed the first time around…I don’t know why I was putting it off.

I asked the tech why this time was so much better.  She said technology keeps changing and that everything is digital now so it’s easier.

If like me, you have been putting off getting a mammogram, maybe it’s time to rethink it…if you don’t do it for yourself, do it for your family.

Home…what a wonderplace….

I’m home!
I am SO happy….yes I had a great time away but I am a home girl to the core.  I love my dust.  I love my clutter.  I love my computer.  I love my family.  I love my dog…..Don’t misunderstand me…I had a great time away…but nothing beats home.

I was in Fort Lauderdale, Florida at a PITC (Program for Infant and Toddler Care) Training for the last week.  Here is the view out my window of the hotel.

Gorgeous…huh!
I took a photo of my feet in the water to prove I was there.

The trip was all expense  paid with the promise that I would write a paper and teach the classes to people back in my area….so my task for this week…the paper.  UGH!

The food was great…the other participates were great…the view was great…the education was great but nothing beats Iowa, the smell of fresh cut alfalfa hay and home!

Flat Toilet Paper: It’s in fashion here

So what do you do with little ones who think the toilet will flush no matter how much toilet paper they throw in…..Flatten the toilet paper!

As my babysitting saga continues….
The little ones here have been rolling out a three foot long piece of toilet paper and then leaving part of it on the floor (yuck) or stuffing all of it in the toilet.  I fixed them though….I flattened toilet paper so it can’t just roll off when they twirl the roll.  Aren’t I a meanie?!  I have to balance off all the cookies and spoiling somehow.  I can’t have them thinking I am a big softy.

Road Closed – Yes, CLOSED!

roadclosed-kalissa

The road in front of our house is closed..yes, CLOSED!

We have had a flood of traffic past our house with people turning around at the end of our driveway and even driving up into our yard to turn around ever since our road was closed two days ago so that the bridge could be replaced.  It is driving our dog NUTS!!

My husband was out cutting alfalfa the first day and witnessed several people moving the road block signs and crossing the bridge!  At that time, the bridge was still there but supports and the structure had been compromised.

I am convinced that some people need to see for themselves before they believe.  Some people, like those moving the road block sign, not only need to see but test things before they believe.  Are you that way?  I know sometimes I am in both my personal and spiritual life.

When my teens tell me they aren’t doing something dangerous when they go out…should I believe them when I can’t see for myself?  When my daughter says, yes mom, I did clean my room.  Do I believe her or do I need to go check for myself?

Sometimes, like in the case of my daughter cleaning her room, we need to check up on things.  But sometimes we just need to have faith and believe…but what about those times we get burned and what we believed isn’t true.   I believe those times come about in our life so we can learn to forgive.

I for one, strive to be a believer.

For those of you who believe without seeing, this is for you….
