Taking a Walk through the Eyes of a Toddler

A post from Kelli–

Before dad got sick, we always joked about me being on maternity leave and my great dislike of being at home for days by myself.  Obviously I would have the baby with me, but we all know that about 3 days at home is my max before I pack up and head to mom and dad’s.  Everyone was taking bets on how long it would be before mom or dad would have to sit me down and have a talk with me about how they were happy to have me over occasionally, but I needed to go home occasionally.

A few months down the road, and they haven’t had to have that talk.  With dad being sick, I’ve spent lots of time at home helping with childcare and such.  There are drawbacks of course, but there are some amazing perks!  Since mom and dad live in town, our evening activity often involves talking to Kalissa and going on a little walk.  She has a stroller that Carver can both sit on and stand on, but it also has a spot for Gannon’s carseat to snap into.  I have a stroller for Georgia, and then mom usually has the dogs on a leash.

Here’s Georgia all snuggled in her carseat that snaps in so easily.  I know that kiddos aren’t supposed to wear big bulky snow suits but I just use it for when we go on walks to keep her nice and snuggle warm–Shout out to Lora who passed it on from little Miss Lucy!

It is so fun to see all of the things as Caver sees them!

It’s hard to see it in the picture, but there were a bunch of little blue flowers that were growing on the side of one of the roads that we often walk on.  We also talked about squirrles and animals we saw on the way….the sprayer at the coop…the water in the river….how Kalissa’s friend Regan played with him at the playground a while ago….

Things that I don’t even think about are entralling to him and it is so incredibly fun to see!

On this particular night, Kalissa had to teach clinicals the next morning and Craig was away for work.  I offered to take Carver for the night so that Kalissa wouldn’t have to wake him up really early in the morning to take him to Mom’s.  We dropped Kalissa and Gannon off at their house and Carver walked back to Mom’s with me, Georgia, and the dogs.

We were walking along and he just started yelling about how he saw S as one of the little girls at childcare’s name starts with S!  We then had to go through all of the letters on the stop sign and talk about who’s name it was for.  It was just hilarious and super cute how he was so excited!

Little moments like this are the things that have made the past few months more bearable!

Funnies from the Grandkids

While Kramer was in the hospital and once he got home, the grandkids, or rather their parents, sent us some really cute videos.  I thought I’d share them but be warned they might take a bit longer to load but they are all totally worth watching.

Here is Georgia, Kelli and Jason’s little girl….

Here is Scotty, Buck and Lora’s guy…. Continue reading

Carver and Gannon Update

Here’s an update on Carver and Gannon and Kramer…

The biopsy was done today.  We’ll get results Tuesday or Wednesday.   Patience is something we are all working on.   Kramer had a good day…likely the best he’s had in a couple weeks.

Now for a story from Kalissa, she writes:

You may have read Mom’s post yesterday that Carver started crying when he saw a picture of Gannon with all the tubes and wires and tape. That just broke my heart when I heard that.

Today I picked Carver up from Grandma Debbie. I flew his door open and the FIRST thing he said to me was “Baby Gannon?” 😭😭He just ADORES his brother. He asked the whole way home when he could see baby Gannon. Here I was all upset because I’m sure he misses his mom and dad but he just really misses his brother.

I told Carver that Gannon was so silly he put tape on his nose! Carver laughed and laughed and said “Silly Gannon!” I told him he was even sillier for putting a sock on his hand! (to cover the IV). Carver brought it up lots of times and said “Silly Gannon!!”

Tonight we video chatted with Craig and Gannon and my Aunt Wendy and cousin Carly who were keeping Craig company at the hospital. Carver saw the tape and the sock and the tubes and wires and he just laughed and said “Silly Gannon!” And then he took his own socks off to put on his hand and went and got a sticker from my mom’s sticker drawer for his nose so he could be just like Gannon

See?

Funnies from the Friedman’s

Here are a couple funny things that happened recently from the Friedman’s house….that’s our daughter Kalissa’s family.

On Saturday they went up to pick up the meat they ordered from the meat locker in the town north of us.  The roads weren’t the best as it was raining and mixing with snow.  But..they needed to get the meat.

Kalissa had Carver with and she took him into the store with her.  On her way out of the locker, Carver slipped and fell into a puddle.  His pants were soaked.  Immediately Kalissa started laughing…Carver did too.  Kalissa ended up having to take his pants off of him as they were that wet.  He’s been potty trained since around Halloween time so she doesn’t bring a diaper bag with anymore so she wrapped a blanket around his legs while he was in his carseat and headed home.  Carver continued to laugh and laugh about his wet pants and “naked” legs.

Kalissa carried him into the house and Carver (who now will hide and won’t let us take his picture) said to Kalissa, “Picture- Grandma Joey”.

So this picture came to me…then Kalissa had to tell me the story.  I saw him later in the day and I asked him about his fall in the water and he was laughing all over again.  He likes to be funny.  I am sure we have a class clown on our hands.

Also from the Friedman house..this…. Continue reading
