Blast from the Past: Quilting in February 2012

I’m doing a little series of posts that feature old blog posts.  I have been going back and looking at them.  It’s been fun.  I started blogging in June of 2009…WOW.  Over ten years.  I’m so glad I’ve kept the blog as a diary of sorts…today I’m telling you about things I was working on in February of 2012.

2011 was the Quiltville Mystery was Orca Bay.  I finished mine in February.  You can find the pattern in Bonnie’s book String Fling.

Blast from the Past: Quilting in January 2012

I’m doing a little series of posts that feature old blog posts.  I have been going back and looking at them.  It’s been fun.  I started blogging in June of 2009…WOW.  Over ten years.  I’m so glad I’ve kept the blog as a diary of sorts…today I’m telling you about things I was working on in January of 2012.

I was hosting a Crumb Quilt Along.  We had a check-in and here is where I was at with my quilt.

CrumbQuilt-1
I had so much fun working on this.  I would love to make another crumb quilt.  Hmm.  2012 is my year to use things up and goodness knows I have PLENTY of crumbs that need using.  This project happened to use string too so it’s was double love for me…crumbs and strings.

This was my rescue beagle Rosie.  She was a great dog.

HERE is more information on the crumb quilt along I hosted.  The directions are still here.

I was hosting a quilt square quilt along.  It was a series of patterns by From my Hands to Your Heart.  Each month we’d pick a block to make and many of you would quilt along with me.  This was the January block…

Blast from the Past: Quilting in December 2011

I found this in my drafts folder.  Apparently, I forgot to schedule it for December.  Oops.  I thought it would still be okay to post so enjoy my quilts from December 2011.

I’m doing a little series of posts that feature old blog posts.  I have been going back and looking at them.  It’s been fun.  I started blogging in June of 2009…WOW.  Over ten years.  I’m so glad I’ve kept the blog as a diary of sorts…today I’m telling you about things I was working on in December of 2011.

Kelli and I finished our Perkimon Daydreams quilts.  We made two of them.  One a gift for Buck and one for Kayla.  You can read about them HERE.

Each quilt has 10,000 pieces…for real.  They were a great joy to make.  Kelli and I had so much fun.  I miss our crazy sewing days.

The pattern for this can be found in Bonnie Hunter’s book Scraps and Shirttails.

This is a great quilt for using up a lot of fabric and fabric that you no longer love.

In the process of doing the machine quilting on this, I ran over my finger and ended up with a needle in my finger.  UGH.  This was the second time I’ve done that.

Blast from the Past: Quilts of November 2011

I’m doing a little series of posts that feature old blog posts.  I have been going back and looking at them.  It’s been fun.  I started blogging in June of 2009…WOW.  Over ten years.  I’m so glad I’ve kept the blog as a diary of sorts…today I’m telling you about projects I finished in November of 2011.

I started paging through the blog post and realized that I didn’t do a lot of quilting in November of 2011.  Reading through the posts I could see that it was a busy month on the family front.  Kalissa and Karl were still in highschool.  Both of them were in the school play and it was the last two weeks of play and the performance.  That was always a crazy time in our lives.  I don’t miss the days when the kids were in school.  The funny thing is that I thought I was crazy busy back then.  Now I’m even busier with even more things to juggle.

Kelli had sewn this quilt top and I machine quilted it for her.  We later went on to make it a free pattern on the blog.  It’s still here and still free.  You can find it HERE.

You might remember me saying that 2022 is going to be the year of getting my scrap buckets under control.  I could easily make a quilt like this…different colors maybe.  Hmm.  It uses 2 1/2″ strips…I have plenty of them!

Kelli and I were busy sewing on… Continue reading
