My friend asked me if I had Labor Day plans. I was thinking camping, fishing, and the like…or even a party, so I said not really. HA!! That was a lie. We were busy. It was just a more normal kind of weekend.
Friday, Rick and I tried to catch up on a few things we were behind on… me on the blog, him on his schoolwork. For those of you who missed it, HERE is the story on Rick going back to school.
Rick and I both got over our 2-week-long flu bug. I know many of you were concerned for us, thinking it was food poisoning or bad lettuce. It was just the flu that’s going around. Friday was the day I was better. I think Rick was better on Wednesday. WHEW. We’re both so happy to have that one done.
About noon on Friday, Rick suggested we get stuff for lasagna. Kelli’s family was coming over on Monday, and we needed the ingredients. I ended up putting in a pickup order. We both took a break from our busyness and went to pick them up. Both of us were tired, so we decided to go out to eat. Decorah doesn’t have the best restaurants…nothing is bad…but nothing jumps out and says PICK ME!
I casually mentioned to Rick that there was a place in Spillville that reopened that I’ve been wanting to try out. He said, “Let’s go!”
Years ago, this restaurant was called Old World Inn. Kelli worked there when she was in college. She made great tip money then. It was an old speakeasy many, many years ago. They redid it, to make a restaurant, and people now eat in the tunnels.

I had the fish…I’d 100% recommend. I couldn’t eat it all. Rick had Chicken Tenders and fries. It was actually on the kids menu, but he ordered a double meal.

Saturday morning we were up early and headed to Kayla’s. Jasper had a soccer game, and we wanted to see him play.
We made one stop along the way to the bakery in Elkader, Iowa. It’s SO GOOD!! If you are ever anywhere near, STOP! It’s well known and so good.

I know very little about soccer. Jasper is number 35.

Here’s an action shot of him. He’s on the left, running.

After the game, we went out for Mexican. We grabbed a picture of Jasper and me. Pardon my hair. It was so humid, and my hair does not take humidity.

It was a fun Saturday. We got back home in time for Rick to get back to homework and me to get back to housework. UGH.
We had a fun break. Many thanks to Jasper for entertaining us!!

Always fun to hear how you spend your days. Watching grandkids in their activities is great fun. My favorite posts are the pictures of community quilts. Such talent and great for inspiration! I noticed in yesterday’s post of your quilt on your long arm that you floated it. Do you have a post on how you do that? I’ve tried with my millennium and am not happy with the results.
I am not a picky as most people. It’s how I learned.
Sounds like a fun weekend. I don’t remember ever having any big plans for a Labor Day weekend. At one time when I lived in Rochester, MN, and my sister lived in NW Iowa, her family would join us. She usually shopped for fabric, but we always had fun.
Jo, those don’t look like your new shoes. Did you return the special orthotic shoes? I know you weren’t happy with them. Just curious how that worked out.
They are my own shoes with the custom insoles in them.
Jasper looks like he enjoys soccer and how nice you and Rick got to watch him play.
