I got an ebook copy of More Free-Motion Machine Quilting 1-2-3 by Lori Kennedy. Martingale sent to me as a promo copy that I could review here on the blog if I wanted to. Well I checked the book out and liked it.
The bad part about writing a review for an ebook is that I can’t get photos of the things I really like. I have to only use the photos of the things that are online. Thankfully there was a picture that showed one of the practice sheets. In the previous page they showed how to make the arrow design. Then they offered a practice area. Personally I wouldn’t write in my book but I would make a copy with my printer and then practice it. I do like how it is shown how to draft the design on grid paper so that I can “see” it more easily.
The illustrations are good. They are very step by step. Which is exactly what I need. See the spider web design shown here?
…and the kites.
Aren’t the step by step photos great?
I loved looking at the designs and imaging quilts that could use the designs.
My only comment on the book that isn’t completely positive is that most of the quilts that I make, don’t really “match” the quilting motifs. I make more busy quilts that don’t need the more whimsical motifs. It was great fun to look at and I’m glad I got a chance to check it out.
Lori has a great blog and I like to get books like this for ideas. Love that arrow but as you said, dont always have a quilt needing such fancy quilting. Thanks for the review.
