I’m starting up a little series of posts that feature old blog posts. Kalissa and I have been going back and looking at them. It’s been fun. I started blogging in June of 2009…WOW. Ten years. I’m so glad I’ve kept the blog as a diary of sorts.
Salsa was taking up my time in September of 2009. I think that was the year I expanded the garden at the farm and had the best garden I’ve ever had.
I gave my salsa recipe out in THIS POST.
I gave my recipe for Chicken Tortilla Soup HERE.
Oh I love making and canning salsa when I have a lot of uninterrupted time.
Back then I was only working on my website Making Learning Fun. I could work on it as I wished and play as I wished. Salsa day was definitely a play day. It sounds pretty leisurely but trust me, I was still working 40 hours a week on the website but…I did the hours when it worked for me. I loved that and wish that someday, I could go back to more of that style of job, but not yet.
Nowadays I still make the soup but I leave out the tortilla strips. I loved them in the soup but they are filled with carbs and not the best thing for a girl who shouldn’t have a lot of carbs.
I also wrote about Kramer’s scheme to do the canning outdoors….
As I wrote the post, we were so excited and it worked for one batch…then, it was completely unsuccessful in the end. In theory it was great but we broke so many jars.
Tomatoes and baking are the main things I wrote about in September of 2009. Oh..I was reminded of my Carrot Cake recipe. It’s been a long time since I made that. I think it’s time. You can find that recipe HERE.
Looking through the archives is great fun for me. It really is like reading an old diary that has pictures. At the time we lived at the old farmhouse on the farm where Kramer worked. I often get a bigger kick out of seeing the background things and think…”oh, that was before we got this table…or that was after I painted the kitchen”. I’m loving the “blast from the past posts”. I’m hoping you all are too.
Yes keep them comiing, cause I have a lot of catching up to do .thanks for the carrot cake recipe. It will get used.
I love thinking about what I was doing “way back in…”. Thanks for sharing and thanks for the chicken tortilla soup recipe. Love that stuff!
Love and prayers
