I’m doing a little series of posts that feature old blog posts. I have been going back and looking at them. It’s been fun. I started blogging in June 2009…WOW—over fifteen years. Today, I’m still playing catch-up, so today I’m telling you about October of 2014.
I went to Country Threads for the last time before they closed their doors. Looking at the pictures…oh I miss their shop. I’d still like to make this quilt. I have the pattern so that’s a plus.

By far, it was the best quilt shop!!
I had challenged myself and others to finish up a Bonnie Hunter quilt before the mystery quilt came out in November. I pulled my Celtic Solstice (gone wrong) and was working on that.

To my surprise, I suggested to Kelli that we try to finish one of our Perkimon Daydreams quilts and she jumped right on board. She was the pinner. I was the sewer. Adding her as the pinner made everything SO MUCH FASTER!!

I was busy at the sewing machine with other projects too. This project later became a published quilt in Quiltmaker Magazine.

This later became a quilt published at Moda Bake Shop. You can find that free quilt pattern HERE.

I had other quilts in the make too…This later was published in a book!

I got the center of my Spoolin Around Quilt finished. Oh, I loved this quilt.

As I was doing the quilt challenge a blog reader asked me show all of the Bonnie Hunter UFO quilts I had at the time. You can read that post HERE. Thankfully I have finished them all!!
We offered a new free pattern on the blog. You can find it HERE. It’s for our Ins and Outs pattern.

I got my Lozenges quilt top finished and a packing put with it.

Kelli and I were on the speaking/teaching circuit and we went to Cable Car Quilters in Dubuque, Iowa. We were teaching participants to make our Thanks to YOU! quilt.

We had a quilt published with Quilty Magazine. It’s the cover quilt called Wrapped Presents. (I forgot all about this quilt)

We had blog readers using our free patterns to make quilts of their own. You can read about that HERE.

Our free Jimmy John quilt pattern was hugely popular. Another blog reader made this one. You can get the free pattern HERE.

Here is yet another version…

I finished my flag pincushion. I still use this and love it. You can read about it HERE.

I took you all on a quilt shop tour of Calico Hutch. You can read about that HERE.
I was busy making pizza and showed you a few different variations I make. You can read about them HERE. This is Craig and Kalissa when they were still dating. They look like babies. HA!

We went wedding dress shopping for Kalissa…She picked the perfect dress for her!!

I shared a family favorite recipe of cheese chowder soup. Our family affectionately calls it Jill Reicks recipe soup. If you live in Iowa, you might know Jill as the owner of Inspired to Sew in Cedar Rapids. She previously lived in my area. You can find the recipe HERE.

I was making unstuffed cabbage. It doesn’t look great but it was tasty. You can find the recipe HERE.

I made scones for the first time… You can find the recipe HERE.

For the house remodel, I was so excited. The plumbers came and put the plumbing in the kitchen.

Kramer was at the house with the skid loader leveling things out.

I got a glimpse of my sewing room…

The garage was all in place and framed so we could finally see what it was going to look like. Here is the front.

Here is the back.

I was working in the garage trying to refinish this cabinet that would later go in the house. You can read more about it HERE.

I was working on stripping this cabinet. You can read about it HERE.

That’s the happenings at the Kramer house in October 2014.

Such interesting flashback posts! Love reading them.
I thoroughly enjoy your “look back” posts. I thought I got a lot done when I worked full time but girl…..you ran circles around me!!!! That cabinet is soo fabulous and I know you love it every day.
Happy Saturday Jo :-)
I’d certainly like to find the pattern for that quilt from the out of business shop! Great guy quilt!
The pattern is in one of the books from Country Threads…I believe the pattern is in this book https://amzn.to/3I5RMFl
My goodness, what a busy month! Your link to the Moda Bake Shop pattern, a page on your website, has the steps, but you say the process photos were lost. The Internet Archive, archive.org, still has the original Moda Bake Shop page from December 2014 with all the images. I don’t think I can post a link in a comment, but I’ll email it to you, Jo.
What fun pictures and stories!
I especially like the Thanks To You quilt. Is there a pattern?
Those two cabinets are wonderful. I’m jealous.
You can find it out book https://amzn.to/4l6fsYE That’s the link
