I’m doing a little series of posts that feature old blog posts. I have been going back and looking at them. It’s been fun. I started blogging in June 2009…WOW. Over fourteen years. I’m so glad I’ve kept the blog as a diary of sorts…today I’m telling you about things I was working on in May of 2014.
Our quilt Irish Stars was featuring in the June/July 2014 issue of Quiltmaker. You can read about it HERE.

I took leftovers from a quilt project and made this baby quilt.

I was busy making spool blocks for my Spooling Around quilt.

I did a blog post explaining how to figure out yardage when you’re buying fabric for a quilt backing. You can read all about it HERE.
I was also busy making lozenge blocks.

I was busy doing some community quilts. Here was one I was working on…You can read more about it HERE.

I made this quilt and offered a free pattern for it. You can find the post HERE.

On the 20th of May, Kelli and I hit the send button and sent off our manuscript for our new quilt book to the publisher. It was such a huge relief…a huge relief. We’re by no means were we done with the book as there were rewrites and proofing but, we are breathing a little more easily. Here is our stack of finished quilts that were in the book!

Things at the house remodel were slow. Spring Planting had kicked in so Kramer was away. We did have the cement guys come to pour the cement for the front porch. You can read about it HERE.

They also poured a pad for the back garage so we could move it.

In the kitchen, I was making Rye Bread. Kramer loved this. I don’t make much bread anymore because I’m diabetic and bread is a poor choice for diabetics. It was so good. You can find the recipe HERE.

I was also making Hot Fudge Pudding Cake. Craig loves this. It’s very ugly but very delicious. You can find the recipe HERE.

I was making Apple Crisp. This was Kramer’s all-time favorite dessert. I’ve made this well over 100 times. You can find the recipe HERE.

The rhubarb was producing so I was making rhubarb bread. You can find the recipe HERE.

I was making popcorn balls for a bake sale and shared the recipe HERE.

I shared my bread pudding recipe. You can find it HERE.

In family news, Kalissa got her LPN in May of 2014. The two of them look like such babies. Now they’ve been 9 years and have three kids.

My dog Ruby was puppy-sitting Kalissa’s new puppy Betsy. I just love this picture.

I told a foster puppy story about this guy…You can read it HERE.

I had read one of my favorite books that I highly recommend. The book is Once We Were Brothers by Ronald H. Balson.

I was busy stripping paint off a cabinet that I use as my pantry cabinet in my kitchen now. All of that white paint had to come off the cabinet. UGH.

WOW… that was a busy month. Not a lot of sewing happened but I think I was a little burned out after sewing so much for the book.
It is so fun for me to go back and read about what we did. The blog really is like a diary to me.

How industrious: puppies, food, quilt blocks, and all! I think I’ll have to try that rye bread recipe.
I loved this recap. So many recipes, so much family, puppy, and house news, and the relief of quilts finished and sending the book manuscript off. May have to try that pudding cake. My family often orders “lava cake” for dessert when eating out. This may be just like it.
You were so busy and really had so many different things going on and you still do. I cannot imagine how you did so much and still managed to help with the remodeling of the house.
I love these blasts from the past posts. I’ve screenshot the recipes for future use, thank you!
