Blast from the Past: June 2015

I’m doing a little series of posts that feature old blog posts. I have been going back and looking at them. It’s been fun. I started blogging in June 2009…WOW—over fifteen years. Today, I’m still playing catch-up, so today I’m telling you about June of 2015.

Kelli and I found out we were to be calendar girls.

Well…we were QUILT calendar girls. That is our quilt on the front page of the 2016 calendar from American Patchwork and Quilting. This was inspired by a quilt I saw at a vintage fair. Of course, we changed it up a bit…That was a fun quilt to make. You can read more about it HERE.

Our Strawberry Shortcake quilt was published in Quiltmaker. Then it was returned home to us.

This is one of my favorite quilts that we designed.

Someone told us they didn’t like square quilts. I personally like square quilts…but we added a Top and Bottom to the quilt. Our working name was Tops and Bottoms because of that…the magazine called it Strawberry Shortcake. You can read more about it HERE.

We had a challenge from Quilts and More magazine. We were given three fabrics and had to design something with only those fabrics. This is the simple quilt I came up with. It was published in the magazine. You can read more about it HERE.

I tried straight line quilting for the time on this community quilt. You can read about it HERE.

I finished another community quilt. You can read about it HERE.

I was busy in the sewing room working on Bonnie Hunter’s Garden Party quilt.

We were busy at the house. We were seeding the lawn. If you remember, we moved into our house in January of 2015.

I redid my wicker couch. You can read more about that HERE.

In the kitchen, I was making Philly Steak sandwiches. You can read how I did that HERE.

I shared a family favorite recipe of Blueberry Chex Dessert. You can find the recipe HERE.

I made Blueberry Streusel Muffins. You can read more about them HERE.

That puts a wrap on June of 2015. I really enjoy going through these posts and seeing what we were busy with at the time.

  1. 11+ years here already? Holy cow I wonder when I discovered your blog. You’ve come a LONG way on rehabbing this home into a beauty and I know you enjoy it every day.

    Happy Saturday Jo!

  2. You and Kellie made some very pretty quilts. It is fun to see what you made back then before I found you. I like them and I was admiring how you added length to Strawberry shortcake thinking it was something I could do because there are patterns that I like but they are square quilts and I am one that doesn’t like square.

  3. very interested in the strawberry shortcake or Tops and bottoms! do you still have the rights to the pattern can you put it on the blog?
