I thought I’d give you a little sneak peak at what is happening behind the scenes around here. Â Last week Kelli frantically sewed this quilt top. Â Then Sunday I spent the day making a backing and quilting it. Â Monday was the day to bind, sew the sleeve and label and prep for the mailbox. Â Thank goodness we are machine binders and not hand binders or there are so many deadlines we’d never make. Â This quilt was sent out Monday so it can get to where it’s going by Friday.
The quilt is fun and bright and features a non traditional “block”. Â We used lots of lots polka dot fabric in the quilt from Moda’s new line Dottie. Â You can bet I was doing the happy dance when I saw that there was left overs from the bundle for me to play with!!
What is not to love with polka dots. Â We added other Moda fabrics that were left over from projects in our new book so the entire quilt is made with Moda fabric. Â So we named the quilt Ode to Moda. Â It’s name will likely be changed by the publisher. Â But for us, it will always and forever be the “Ode to Moda” quilt.
Check out the label…This is destine to be featured in a calendar for 2016 that American Patchwork and Quilting is putting out. Â Imagine our shock when we opened the email requesting this quilt. Â We’re super excited about this!!
First we were shocked that they wanted our quilt. Â Second we were shocked that they would already be putting together a calendar for 2016. Â Who knew that projects were started so far in advance??
We’ll let you know when the calendar will be out and available for purchase. Â You can bet that all of our family will be getting a calendar for a gift in 2015!!
I sure wish I could show you the quilt. Â Our daughter Kalissa claims it’s the best quilt yet. Â It was inspired by a very poorly sewn quilt we saw while antiquing. Â That quilt was all done in dark colors though. Â This is also one of those quilts that I put together and Kelli said, “Exactly how am I suppose to sew that?” Â After a few test “blocks” Kelli had it down pat.
You just never what is happening here behind the scenes..sometimes it’s such a whirlwind I sometimes wonder if I know what’s happening.
how exciting hope I will be able to get my hand on it when it comes out Besides I am progressed with polka dots At the time.
Sure hope the fabric is readily available when the pattern comes out. There’s many of times I’ve fell in love with a quilt only to discover the fabric is nearly gone and almost Impossible to find. Love, love, love polka dots.
I buy this calendar every year! Looking forward to your quilt in the 2016 edition! Congrats!
Can’t Wait!!!!
