Beatles Fabric: From fabric to quilt

Sometime ago one of my blog readers Jean sent me a couple boxes of fabric.

Fabric
Another one of my blog readers, Diannia in Muscatine, saw the post and then emailed me.  She was going to make a baby quilt for a baby in her family whose dad was a huge Beatles fan.  She had been looking for colorful Beatles fabric but was having trouble finding any.  She asked if I would be willing to sell it.  Well it was given to me and it only right that I just pass it on…I warned her that there wasn’t much of the fabric (like only 6 ~ 3 1/2″ squares) but if she wanted it, I would give it to her.

Last week she sent pictures of the baby quilt she made using the fabric.

I think it turned out really cute.

The backing has a really cute note fabric on it.

I think it’s a lucky little baby to receive such a cute little quilt.  Thanks so much to Jean for originally sending me the fabric.  You brightened both my day and Diannia’s day too.

With the story of this quilt I think it only appropriate to attach a link to the Beatles “A Little Help from My Friend” song from YouTube.

  1. That is sooo cool! Now I am not asking for fabric, just advice. I saw something on another blog about an “I Spy” quilt, so after much thought, I have decided to start one for my almost 11 month old granddaughter, Julia. It will be 4″ I spy squares, with 11/2″ sashing, color yet determined=this is my first planning quilt. My question is how do you go about collecting the I spy part? Do I buy lots of FQs as I know fussy cutting is involved? Or can I buy just strips of certain fabrics to fussy cut? Any suggestions as to my next step? Any help would be greatly appreciated=advice, that is!!!

  2. It was so nice of Jean to send you the fabric and then for you to share it with Diannia . How nice that Diannia sent you a picture of her quilt! Quilters are the best!!!!!

  3. Jean and Jo, thanks again for sharing the Beatles fabric. Jo also included the scrap with the notes and it went so well, that I searched it out online to use as the backing.

Nephew Kiefer was absolutely thrilled with the quilt and I can’t wait to see it being used by my great nephew Maddux Loren when he makes his debut early in July! Quilters ARE the best!
