Changing Course…

Remember a few days ago, when I was working on this?
NinePatch-2
I was trying to decide what to do with my quilt a long blocks and was contemplating putting snowball blocks in between the nine patch blocks….Well I made a decision….

I made two quilts.  I put the nine patch blocks together in the original design.  Then I made more snowball blocks with a black background and put them together in a quilt.  Now I have two quilt tops that need to be quilted….hopefully I can get one of them quilted this weekend.

Normally I take much longer to make a decision but I am taking the Joy in the New Year Challenge very seriously so watch for lots of projects to be reveiled as the final weeks of 2009 unfold.

Joy in the New Year Challenge

Today, I am starting the “Joy in the New Year Challenge” put on by Tallgrass Prairie Studio.
new year
The challenge is to finish as many unfinished projects as you can before the new year.  To join the fun, leave a note at the Tallgrass Blog, telling how many unfinished projects you have that you hope to finish by the new year.  Then for each project you finish, you will be entered to win prizes.  Who can resist a prize?

I have MANY unfinished projects and hope to finish these before the new year….

Nine Patch Quilt A-Long
Fireman Fabric Quilt
Bonnie Hunter’s Christmas Lights Quilt
Atkinson’s Designs Lily Pad Quilt
Schnibbles Picnic Quilt
Baby Quilt for Jamie’s Baby
Block of the Month from Quilter’s Window

+ work on my English Paper Piecing Project
I have about 5 more projects that aren’t started…so that’s 14 projects!  WOW!!!

I would be WONDERFULLY happy if I could finish the nine individually listed projects.  That means I need to finish one each week plus live through the holidays….that means I better get sewing!!  I’ll keep you posted on my progress.

100 Post Anniversary

It’s a happy 100th post anniversary for Jo’s Country Junction and it’s a giveaway for you!
Since entering the blog world, I have been completely amazed at all the wonderful ideas a person can find in blogland.  My hubby can’t figure out how I would prefer the computer over the televison…obviously he hasn’t discovered blogs.

For another chance to win, add Jo’s Country Junction or Making Learning Fun to your blog roll.  Then come back and leave a comment that you added the blog/site.

The give away closes on Friday night at midnight here.  Good Luck!

If you aren’t a winner, but want to make a set of letters for yourself.  Here is a link to the Rag Letter tutorial at Oh So Happy Together.  I made the bag using Rachel’s Tutorial at P.S. I Quilt.  I am warning you that I did adjust the directions for the bag by adding nine strips instead of eight.  I also made the bottom piece 9.5 x 7.  When the corners were sewn I used a 2″ measurement rather than 1.5.  The batting was cut the size of the top and the lining measurement changed to 16 x 101/4.  The adjustments need to be made for the bag so that letters can fit in the bag.

Wouldn’t they make a wonderful gift for the little one you love?
