It my thrifting adventures lately I’ve come across a few things. I had originally bought them to sell at the shows Hubby and Kalissa have planned but then decided I might as well offer them all to you instead. It’s things I can easily ship at minimal charges and things I think many of you will enjoy.
We had a little trouble last time so I changed up the guidelines a bit…so if you want to bid, please read them over.
Here’s the guidelines:
Bids must be entered in the comment section. PLEASE WRITE THE NAME OF THE ITEM, THE ITEM NUMBER AND THEN THE AMOUNT YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY. If you are the winner of the bid, the postage amount will be added on to your ending bid price. You can pay via Paypal. I will also accept personal check but check will have to clear before merchandise is sent. Bidding will close at NOON Central Time on Monday. I will send a confirmation email to the winning bidder later in the day on Monday. Then hopefully bids can be paid and I can package the items up and get them in the mail on Tuesday.
So…First up is item #1. I am reselling the 9 embroidered blocks that were listed last time we had an auction. The winning bidder was actually wanting the state blocks I had not these. I was going to give them to the person with the next highest bid but I didn’t think that was fair to anyone who wanted to bid a higher bid than that bid. I didn’t know what to do and thought starting over was easiest. So…
ITEM #1
NINE EMBROIDERED BLOCKS
They would make a great baby quilt.  Postage for these is $4.
The background fabric is more of a cream than white-white. The stitching on these is AMAZING.
ITEM #2
MINI HEART QUILT TOP-Postage $3.
This is small. It’s only 17 1/2″ x 19 1/2″.
Here’s a close up so you can see how tiny the blocks are!! Amazing!!
ITEM #3
VINTAGE Feed Sack DOLL CLOTHES- Postage $4.
This is a lot of vintage doll clothes. Most are made from feed sack fabric. There are 8 outfits, two pants and one pinafore. There are in used condition and a couple need small do-able repairs. I was hoping these would fit one of my vintage dolls but they don’t. So sadly I am parting with them.
I set a tape measure on the clothes so you might have a better idea if they might fit a vintage doll in you collection.
ITEM #4
VINTAGE YO-YO PILLOW- Postage $4
This a super-super soft vintage yo-yo pillow. The pillow is actually a silky material.
I set a tape measure by it so you could get an idea on the size of the pillow and of the yo-yos. I just adore this pillow but alas….Hubby keeps telling me I can’t keep it all..and he’s right.
Next up are the QUILT TOPS…keep reading to see them…First up is…
PLEASE NOTE ALL OF THE FOLLOWING ARE QUILT TOPS. THEY ARE NOT COMPLETED QUILTS!
ITEM #5
SMALL VINTAGE QUILT TOP- Postage $4
This is hand stitched. It’s small at 38″ x 47″. It’s one of those that are perfectly imperfect. It has seams that don’t perfectly match…but it’s cute nonetheless.
This is very much a utility quilt. Check out the miss-matched color selections. Oh fun!
ITEM #6
DRUNKARD’S PATH VINTAGE QUILT TOP- Postage $4
This is really hard to part with. It’s so cute! It is hand and machine stitched. It almost gives me the feel that the maker had hand stitched blocks and later got a sewing machine and pieced them together….or did the mother make the blocks and the daughter later sewed them together. Who knows? This is 61″ x 75″.
Come…admit it. The quirkiness of the quilt is precious…right??
It has navy blue polka dot corner stones in the sashing.
Here the hand stitched block and machine stitched borders.
All of the quilt tops I found were kind of quirky….
ITEM #7
VINTAGE GOLD NINE PATCH- Postage $4
This one is 66″ x 80″. It’s a nine patch that is gold/yellow and blue…with added extras too!
The blocks are larger. Check out the tape measure for reference. The name “Eric” is embroidered into the corner.
There are large prints and solids primarily used for this.
ITEM #8
VINTAGE NINE PATCH IN A SQUARE
This quirky quilt top is the largest of the bunch. It is 71″ x 83″.
Check out the funky sashing…..definitely a utility quilt top again. The blocks all use a stripe as the fabric that makes the square in a square portion of the block.
This was made by the same maker as the previous quilt. If you look that sashing fabric is used in both and they both have “Eric” embroidered on them.
As with the others the blocks are hand stitched but machine stitched together.
Most of the blocks have the matching pieces within the block but there are a few that are miss-matched like the ones shown. These make me smile.
I don’t know what it is about these quilts that all make me happy to see. I love nice fancy quilts but these are the ones that call to me more than anything. I think they picture a mom working to provide and make do for her family. She wanted something nice but in the end what matters most was that her family had quilts. I simply adore them. I think part of the reason they are so special too is that I would have been that mom. We wouldn’t have had the money to make the perfect quilts. I feel like the quilt top makers would be kindred spirits with me.
I’m going to put the bidding guidelines here again in case anyone missed them.
