Auction Time: Bid the Up!!

I’ve had things here for quite a while to do an auction with you all again, but I’ve been so hesitant.  When I had the last auction here on the blog, it was a miserable experience for me.  People didn’t answer emails.  People didn’t follow the guidelines.  I thought I’d just give up on having auctions but then I had the things here.  So I decided to try it one more time.  If this goes bad, I’m not doing it anymore….SO READ THE GUIDELINES BEFORE YOU BID.  All money from the sale will go into the postage fund for charity quilts.

Here’s the guidelines:
Bids must be entered in the comment section.  PLEASE  WRITE THE NAME OF THE ITEM, THE ITEM NUMBER AND THEN THE AMOUNT YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY.  If you are the winner of the bid, the postage amount will be added to your ending bid price.  You can pay via Paypal.  I will also accept a personal check but check will have to clear before merchandise is sent.  Bidding will close at 5pm Central Time on Monday.  I will send a confirmation email to the winning bidder later in the day on Monday or on Tuesday. Then hopefully bids can be paid and I can package the items up and get them in the mail ASAP.  If you do bid, please watch your email so we can take care of the correspondence efficiently.  I make a guess on postage.  If I’m off it’s not a big deal.  U.S. postage calculations.

On to the bidding.

Item #1:  Hand Pieced Quilt top + $7 postage
This is 76 x 76

The maker used at least two different reds.  There is a stain..but it looks like it was like water and could come out.  No guarantee though.

Item #2:  Hexagon Hand Pieced Quilt blocks + $9 postage

These were donated by a blog reader.  They are 12 1/2″ across.

There are 41 blocks total.  The blocks are tacked to the background fabric but the background fabric is not uniform sized.  I personally would remove the background fabric and then piece the blocks together.

Item #3:  Hand Pieced Quilt blocks + $6 postage
There are nine blocks.  These were donated by a blog reader.  They would make cute pincushions…That’s what I would do with them!!

Item #4:  Grandma’s Garden Quilt Top + $9 postage
I love the pattern the blocks make.  Can you see the rows of yellow and pink…and of course the couple wild blocks?  I love this setting.

This top is AMAZING.  The hexagons are miniature.  The side of each hexagon piece FINISHES at 1/2″  It’s a sight to behold if you are a quilt lover.

Sadly it does have a little damage…There would likely be about 4 spots that need repair.

I think at one point, the top must have been washed as this is the back of it.  The top is 63″ x 80″.

Item #5:  Double Wedding Ring Baby Size top + $7 postage
This is in good shape for an old piece.  It is 30″ x 38″.  Would make a nice baby quilt.

Item #6:  Beautiful Applique Quilt top + $9 postage
This is beautiful and the work is very nice.  You can see one block doesn’t quite match as far as green goes.  As is it is 79″ x 95″.  If you are a hand quilter, this would be a great project to finish.  It would shine with some awesome hand quilting!!

The top came with these three appliqued borders so the quilt could be even bigger.  I am sure these were intended to go with the quilt as the flower bud is the same pattern.

Item #7:  Grandma’s Garden Baby Size top + $7 postage.

This Grandma’s Garden top is small and not in the best shape.  It is 39″ x 49″.

Here is how it looks along the edge.  The rest isn’t as bad.  It could be taken apart and made into a table runner or something like that.

Item #8:  Hand Pieced blocks + $7 postage
There are 32 blocks in this lot.  They are 5″ square.  They are all hand pieced and oh so cute!!  Donated by a blog reader.

Item #9:  Grandma’s Garden Blocks + $12 postage
This lot is in the best shape of everything that is being offered on the auction.  These could be put into a quilt and special care would not have to be done.  Donated by a blog reader.

There are 59 blocks in the pile that are FINISHED.  There is a big bag or hexagons that are stitched already but not into blocks.

The work done on these is amazing.  This is the back.  Check out how neat the person who did these was!

This is how big they finish at.

There is a beautiful variety of colors.  I love them and am so tempted to keep them but when I sit at night, I want to cross-stitch.  I’m letting one of you have the opportunity to love these.

Item #10:  Baby Embroidery Quilt top + $7 postage
This was hand appliqued by an older lady and I bought it from her at a garage sale.  It is 37″ x 57″ but could be cut down or added to.

Item #11:  Barn Quilt Blocks + $7 postage

There are a total of 6 blocks and would be about 18″ x 18″.

They are nicely embroidered.

Item #12:  Log cabin blocks + $7 postage

This came to me all in a bag.  9 of the blocks are sewn together with more blocks available.  There are also some small started blocks.

Item #13:  Embroidered snowman blocks + $7 postage

Before you bid please read the guidelines one more time:
Bids must be entered in the comment section.  PLEASE  WRITE THE NAME OF THE ITEM, THE ITEM NUMBER AND THEN THE AMOUNT YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY.  If you are the winner of the bid, the postage amount will be added to your ending bid price.  You can pay via Paypal.  I will also accept a personal check but check will have to clear before merchandise is sent.  Bidding will close at 5pm Central Time on Monday.  I will send a confirmation email to the winning bidder later in the day on Monday or Tuesday morning. PLEASE WATCH YOUR EMAIL IF YOU ARE THE HIGH BIDDER!!

  6. I can’t bid on anything, but wanted to say that several of these blocks being offered would be beautiful for Bonnie Hunter’s forthcoming pattern (in her next book we think!) where you appliqué a block on top of a string block. I can’t remember what she called it…..Traveling Strings??

  12. When I posted my bid, There was only one other bid there, but I see there is a duplicate bid that is the same as mine that was posted earlier than mine in comments. Not sure how that happens unless we are on different time zones. Can we bid more than once since this is an auction?

  16. #12 Log Cabin – 40.00 plus postage

Love reading about your family adventures and seeing all the charible community quilts come together. What a great quilt family you have too!

I have had the best entertainer keeping track of the auction. If everyone pays accordingly, you will have a couple of months worth of postage. I wouldn’t mind sending more items for another auction and I am sure others would have you auction items they send for that purpose also. Again thanks.

  18. Just found out about your auction. So many items I would like to bid on but too late. Hopefully you’ll have another one soon, Signed up for your emails so when you have another auction I’ll get ntified. Last auction I participated in was when you auctioned off shirts. Loved that one and am enjoying the shirts I won. Good to see all is going well with you and that all your family is doing well. Thanks again for everything. ARe you going to be doing the Bonnie Hunter mystery this year. I’m looking forward to it. Take care
