Auction Day: Your Turn to Bid!!

It’s been a bit since I hosted an auction for all of you to have a chance to bid.  I’ve had a few things here but I haven’t had time to get a post together.  Then Kalissa came with a quilt she bought on a garage sale and said -“Hey Mom, I think one of you blog readers might want this”.  Then she showed me this quilt…

I thought she was right so I pulled a few of my things too and it looks like we’re hosting an auction.

Here’s the guidelines:
Bids must be entered in the comment section.  PLEASE  WRITE THE NAME OF THE ITEM, THE ITEM NUMBER AND THEN THE AMOUNT YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY.  If you are the winner of the bid, the postage amount will be added on to your ending bid price.  You can pay via Paypal.  I will also accept personal check but check will have to clear before merchandise is sent.  Bidding will close at NOON Central Time on Monday.  I will send a confirmation email to the winning bidder later in the day on Monday. Then hopefully bids can be paid and I can package the items up and get them in the mail as soon as possible.  If you do bid please watch your email so we can take care of the correspondence efficiently.

On to the bidding.

Item #1:  Kalissa’s Double Wedding Ring Quilt

This quilt is 72 1/2″ x 88″.  There are several spots that need repair but the good news is that it looks easily fixed.

This was made with a center what was white and blue borders then added to it.  After that, the rings of the Double Wedding Ring were appliqued to the top of the already made top.  This makes it super easy to repair.

THe rings are large.  It’s 20″ across.  There is one stain in the photo below….

..and another stain here.

This is typical of a spot that needs repair.  

The backing is the same white as the top.  The quilt itself is in good condition for the age…the rings aren’t top notch..but as I said, repairable.

Item #2:  Marti MIchell’s Perfect Patchwork Templates Set B

These came in a box of things I bought at an auction.

I typically don’t use these types of templates so decided to offer them here on the auction.  Only two of the templates have been used as their paper is removed.

I have other Marti Michell rulers and such and can say they are VERY nicely made.  There is an instruction sheet with block pattern options included.

Item #3:  Craftsy Quilt BOM Kit
Cost plus postage of $10
Kit to make the quilt shown-finished size 90 x 90.

The fabrics are all solids.  The pattern comes in a packet.  It was designed as a block of the month.  All fabrics are included to make the top.  After all of our struggles with our block of the month, neither Kelli nor I are interested in sewing it.

The colors are great and I think it would be a lovely quilt.

Item #4:
Hexie Quilt 63 x 81 1/2

Hubby was at an auction and bought this…He knows I’ve been hosting auctions here on the blog and he thought this would be the perfect thing for me to sell.

I think he was right.  Let me tell you…my Hubby has skills when if comes to buying quilts-at least this one.  It’s nice.

This is a unique hexagon quilt.  The colors of it are still vibrant.  It’s hand quilted and hand stitched.  I love the circle quilting motif.  It was a pretty modern choice for the time.

I looked and looked at it.  I found no holes but did find this…notice the corner.  This is a patch.  It’s not quilted like the rest of the quilt.  I can’t help but wonder if a kid or dog got to it and it was repaired.  If so, I don’t feel anything “out of place” under the patch.  Looking at the quilt as a whole, it was not noticable.  I don’t found it after careful checking.  Check out the first picture.  This “patch” is in the upper right corner.

The backing is not stained…the fabric is faded.  The back did not hold up fading as well as the top did….I didn’t see any holes though.

There’s that FUN quilting.

I’ve had few people requested that I start adding 100% cotton shirts to the auction.  I finally got to it!!  All shirts are 100% cotton.  Most have missing back.  A few have a missing sleeve.  Most are men’s, there might be one or two woman’s or child shirts but the overwhelming majority are men’s.

Bunch of light or neutral colored 100% cotton shirts.

Bunch of colored 100% cotton shirts.  ALL COLORS EXCEPT BLUE!

Bunch of 100% cotton shirts.  ALL are geometric or other design.  NO PLAIDS.
ONLY FULL SHIRTS- 8 total.

One last note:
I have TWO “Less Bitchin’ More Stitchin'” shirts left.  Both are XL.  I’m clearancing them out at $18 with free shipping per shirt.  If anyone wants one drop me a note at rogjok@iowatelecom.net.
