Ask Jo: That Cute Charity Quilt

Every so often I get comments or email from readers asking questions or commenting.  I believe often times others would like to hear the questions and answers so I take time to answer them here on the blog.  Today is one of those days.

On Friday I showed you the charity quilt that I finished up in time to head off to a local benefit for a family who experienced a house fire.

We had lots of people ask and comment either on the blog or through email inquiring about the pattern used to make it.

Julie commented on the quilt saying, “I am so happy you liked the quilt!! It sounds like it is going for a good cause, and that is great. The prints are the leftover pieces from making I Spy quilts. I’ll have to see if I have any more to make another.  Thanks for all you do, I love your blog and patterns!  Quilty hugs,  Julie”

This is really a great design to make using left over eye spy quilts.

Although I don’t know the exact pattern that Julie used, I did do a little investigation.  I thought Bonnie Hunter might have them pattern (or one close to it) listed in her free patterns and she does.  Here is the link.  She calls it a Sting X.

Bonnie Hunter shows a couple different variations.  Julie didn’t add border to hers and used all yellow backgrounds.

Regardless of how it’s made it really is a cute quilt that is an awesome stash buster.

Well guess who has a quilt on the cover page of the new American Patchwork & Quilting magazine? Congratulations to you both. I love the quilt pattern & can’t wait to try my hand at it.
