A Tour of Country Threads Quilt Shop…Part 1

Saturday my daughter Kelli and I went to Country Threads.  I took lots of pictures knowing that you might appreciate a little shop tour.

Country Threads is well known for their quilts that have dark, rich colors.  They love brushed cottons.  Primitives, wool, and punch needle projects are other things a visitor is sure to see.  Imagine my surprise when we walked in the door and saw this…bright colors!

I was quickly reassured when I came around the corner and saw their rug display….another thing they are famous for.  I blogged about this some time back.  If you want to learn more about their rugs, check out this link.  The rugs are weaved on these frames.  It’s a GREAT project that uses up all those “what was I thinking when I bought that fabric” pieces in your stash.

Kelli and I were both intrigued by this display.  The quilt is made with a jelly roll.  I am guessing that the strips are cut in half.  I didn’t buy the pattern…maybe on our next trip.

This quilt is such a beauty….the applique isn’t something I want to tackle but I can certainly take time to appreciate the work.

CountryThreads-3

It seams around every corner is a quilt that I could make….

Honestly…I have never been to a quilt shop where every sample is labeled so nicely and the patterns are right next to the project.  It makes shopping a joy.

Here is their One Star quilt for Quilts of Valor.  The kit comes with an added bonus quilt.  I was in love with that….little stars…always a favorite for me!

Kelli and I both loved this little quilt made with French General fabrics….It was made with a layer cake.  We both have layer cakes lurking in our stash so she grabbed up that pattern.  I am hoping we can have a sewing day and make them.

Kelli and both looked at this quilt for a LONG time….the blocks are tiny log cabin blocks.  I am guessing only 4″.

This quilt shop is was made from an old chicken coop…the ceilings are slant and the gals there use ever inch of space for display.

One of the neatest things ever are their new barn quilts.  They are designed to be hung outdoors.  They are made on lightweight metal and come in two different sizes 24″ x 24″ and 48″ x 48″.  Many people in our area have barn quilts that are painted on their barn…but no one has these.  The painting actually looks like fabric.  This one was my favorite.

CountryThreads-8

Can you believe that it is metal…not fabric??!  It SO looks like fabric.  I came home and was scooping out possible places to hang one.   There’s another one.

CountryThreads-9

I thought I had more photos of the barn quilts but I was so excited…I didn’t snap a photo of all of them.  You can go over to their website to check out the rest of the barn quilts.  There are several more designs.

That ends today’s tour….I’ll show you more from Country Threads later this week.

  1. Thanks Jo….love all the pictures of the shop, what an inspiration. Love you blog by the way, I don’t comment often but yours is the only blog that I do comment on, first thing I do in the morning. Thank you for your daily inspiration!

  2. Jo, can you share the name of the pattern that Kelli purchased pictured in French General fabrics using a Layer Cake please? What a wonderful shop. I see how easily it would be to loose yourself inside. The One Star quilt kit would have come home with me! Sandi

  3. Jo, loved the tour of Country Threads. Do you happen to remember the price of the metal quilt blocks? I don’t have a barn but would love to have one on the house.

  4. Jo-thanks so much for tour of Country Threads. I’m going to get there one of these days-it’s on my “bucket list” let’s say. Can’t wait for tour #2.
