When I went to visit Lucy at O2B Quilting she passed along a little tip.
At each of her quilting machines she changed out the clips that hold the quilt back in place at the sides for these red clips.
On an APQS there are just standard clips metal clamps that only pinch an inch of fabric. These red clamps that Lucy had were awesome. I quickly asked about them.
Lucy said they are OXO Chip Bag Clamps in XL. You can find them here on Amazon-OXO Good Grips Red Bag Clips, Set of 4. I was so impressed with them and the even pull they held on the fabric that once I got home, I immediately went to Amazon and bought two sets-two for each side. Lucy did say that I’ll need and extra washer on these and I happily told her that’s Hubby’s department.
Once they get here, I am going to get them changed out right away. The clamps give a much nicer more even tension of the backing fabric..and best yet they were cheap and red. (Have I ever mentioned red is my favorite color?)
Thanks for the tip Lucy and thanks for allowing me to share it here.
Hi Jo, I have made one of your projects I found on Mode web site – the quilted pouch and would like to make more to sell to help put my daughter through college. Please let me know if you are okay with that. I will wait to hear from you. Thank you.
That is a great tip! Thanks for sharing it with us.
I really love this tip! I found some Large XOX bag clips w no holes at krogers for 5.99, DH is going to see if these will work. If not I will be ordering them on line. I’ve been very unhappy w how little even pull is on the quilt w the clamps provided w my long arm (Nolting) And bc of arthritis in my wrist and hand they are very hard to open.
