I told you all that I had a busy weekend. Kayla and Jasper came on Friday evening in time for supper. During the day I had made lasagna. I told you about that HERE.
Our fun continued into Saturday. Kalissa had worked the overnight on Friday and fieldwork has started for Craig so Carver and Gannon ended up at my house to have a cousin Jasper visit. I caught him out under the swing set fixing with his tools. Boy, he loves tools.
Kayla has made a goal for herself to run a half marathon. She runs during the week and then on the weekend does a big run on Saturdays. She asked if I could watch Jasper and she’d do her big run. This run was 11 miles. She drove to Decorah to run the Trout Run Trail. It’s a nice path. She hadn’t run that far before but she did it…
To celebrate we took her to… Luna Valley Pizza farm. I’ve told you about it before. Here she is eating her well deserved pizza.
Kayla had many things to celebrate after her run. Fastest mile…fastest 5K and fastest 10K…all that with some hills. I’m so proud of her. This has been a long term goal for her and she’s rocking it!
After that, we stopped and got some craft beers for a little taste testing when we got home. Kayla and Karl both love craft beer tasting. I don’t mind…not the crazy things but the average things.
Karl and I having the Pig and Fig pizza…Kayla is having cheese.
The time went by all too quickly. I didn’t take many pictures…it was a “live the moment” couple of days.
As Kayla was leaving I said, “Wait, I need a Jasper picture!”
I know I’m his grandma so I’m biased but he is a little sweetie. Many people have so many bad things to say about covid. Not me. I’m am looking for the blessings it has brought. I know I wouldn’t have seen Jasper as much…I wouldn’t have face timed as much. I would know him as well as I do.  Kayla would have been at school more. They would have been on more vacations and I wouldn’t have seen him as much.
He is so smiley and so happy. Some people make the comment that someone “smiles with their eyes”. This guy, he smiles with his whole body.
There was a point for a bit that Kayla and Spencer wondered if they would have kids. It didn’t seem like something they wanted. As they became Aunts and Uncles and their friends had kids, they changed their minds. I’m so glad they did as I would have hated to miss out on this little guy.
I can’t thank Kayla enough for the work she does to make sure he knows his Grandma Jo.
Congratulations to Kayla on her run time! That is a big goal. Having children is always a question for a young couple. Jasper is looking so sweet. One of my sons got married and after a couple of years he and his wife decided to get a dog from the shelter. The little puppy turned out to be very sick for the first weeks they had her, and they really struggled to keep her alive and medicated and fed and walked and still work two jobs as he finished graduate school. After a few months accomplishing this, they looked at each other and said, “If we can keep a dog alive, we can keep a child alive. Let’s have a baby!” They now have a girl and a boy. I am very grateful to that Chai-dog!
Congratulations to Kayla ! That’s great. Jasper is a doll! So cute . I’m so glad you had a chance to visit with them. It’s wonderful that the cousins get to spend time together and know each other.
I come from a family who just waited and waited. My younger brother and his wife had difficulties but now have 2 very lovely young ladies. One in Med School and the other just started college. My other brother have one son with his own little family of one son and wife. He is doing very good also. Sometimes grandma can not be close.
Congratulations Kayla! My daughter runs the full marathon and daughter-in-law runs the half. They camp in the same parks and run together a lot. They struggled with Grammas Marathon this year being virtual. But, the did it! Maybe you will meet them someday at Grammas in Duluth! Jasper is so cute and getting so big! Such a happy guy!
Jasper is a beautiful baby. Such a glowing little face!
Oh my Congratulations to Kayla for her run. I have 2 great nieces that run to stay fit. So happy for Kayla. Jasper does smile with his whole body but it does start in the eyes. When I first glance at your picture in noticed how his eyes were sparkling and then how the rest of him is so happy. I love watching Carver and his tools. He’s going to be a let’s fix it man like his daddy and grandpa.
One of the best things a parent can do is share their little ones with grandparents! I am glad you are enjoying all your little grands, Jo! Live in the moment and hug like crazy!
Congratulations to Kayla! By the way, am I the only one who sees Kramer in the little fella’s face? Struck me immediately! So precious.
Sounds like a wonderful time – Jasper is a cutie indeed – I know what you mean about living in the moment – it is hard to remember to get the pictures! You got a cute one!!
What a great weekend for all involved!
Congrats Kayla on a great run, it takes commitment to be able to run long distance. Jasper is such a cutie and those bright clear eyes just sparkle. I’m glad that your swing is now fixed and Gannon is a handy fella with those tools, lol
